Jermain Jackman is a British singer and political activist. He was born on January 10, 1995. Jermain became famous in 2014 when he won The Voice UK, a popular TV singing competition. After winning, he released his first album in 2015. Besides music, Jermain is also involved in politics. He has been a candidate for the Labour Party National Executive Committee (NEC) and is a member of important unions like the Musicians' Union.

Jermain's Early Life and School
Jermain Jackman grew up in Hackney, London. He comes from an Afro-Guyanese family and has four older brothers and sisters, plus a twin sister. His oldest sibling, Orlan Jackman, is a basketball player who won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Jermain went to the Islington Arts and Media School in Finsbury Park. He also studied music at Sir George Monoux College in Walthamstow. Later, he went to the University of Leeds to study Politics. He finished his studies at SOAS University of London in 2022.

Winning The Voice UK in 2014
Jermain Jackman won the third season of The Voice UK in April 2014. He was the first male singer to win the show. Many people thought another contestant, Christina Marie, would win. As the winner, Jermain received a £100,000 record contract.
His cover of the song "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" became popular online. It reached number 39 on the UK iTunes chart. However, it ended up at number 75 on the main music charts that week.

Music After The Voice UK
In December 2014, Jermain released an EP called Jermain Jackman Sessions. An EP is like a mini-album with a few songs. He offered it as a free download for his fans.
His first full album, also called Jermain Jackman, came out on March 23, 2015. On the same day, he released his first single, "How Will I Know." Jermain recorded this song around the time his grandmother passed away. He said his emotions were high in the studio, and he thought about her while singing.
Jermain also appeared on TV shows after The Voice UK. In 2015, he was a guest on CBBC's The Dog Ate My Homework. He also returned to The Voice UK stage to perform his new song, "How Will I Know." In November 2017, Jermain and fellow celebrity George Sampson won the top prize on an episode of Pointless Celebrities.
Jermain's Work in Politics
Jermain Jackman has a big dream: he wants to be the first singing Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In 2016, he shared that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn noticed him at a school talent show in 2006. This inspired Jermain to get involved in politics and perhaps become a MP. In June 2017, Jermain supported a Labour Party event before the general election.
Jermain has also worked on important projects for young people. From 2017 to 2018, he led the Islington Fair Futures Commission. Since 2019, he has led the Hackney Young Futures Commission. He has also been a Youth Advisor for the NCS Trust since 2019. In April 2020, he started the 1987 Caucus, which is a group for young black men in the Labour Party. He is also part of Socialists of Colour.
In 2020, Jermain tried to become a representative for the Labour Party's National Executive Committee (NEC). He ran twice that year but was not elected. In 2022, he considered running again but decided not to. He explained that he wanted to see more fairness and inclusion within the party. He has spoken about the need to fight against institutional racism and create a more welcoming environment for everyone.
