Jerry Ricardo Bengtson Bodden, born on April 8, 1987, is a professional football player from Honduras. He plays as a striker, which means he is a forward player who scores goals. Jerry currently plays for the club team Olimpia and also for the Honduras national team.

Jerry Bengtson's Club Career

Playing for Vida

Jerry Bengtson started his professional football journey with the club Vida. His first official game was on August 12, 2007, against Olimpia. He scored his very first goal for Vida on September 30, 2007. This goal helped his team get a 1–1 tie against Real España. During his time at Vida, Jerry scored an impressive 32 goals.

Time with Motagua

On November 26, 2010, Jerry joined Motagua, signing a three-year contract. He scored his first goal for Motagua on January 30, 2011, in a 1–0 win. This was against C.D. Marathón.

In May 2011, Jerry scored his 13th goal of the Clausura Tournament. This goal was in the first game of the final against Olimpia. It made him the top scorer in the league. He was the first Honduran player to be the top scorer in three tournaments in a row. He had won the previous two with Vida. He scored two more goals in the second game of the final. This made sure he kept his title as the league's top scorer.

Playing in the United States: New England Revolution

Jerry Bengtson moved to the United States to play for the New England Revolution on July 5, 2012. He was a "Designated Player," which means he was a key player for the team. He was the third Honduran player to play for the Revolution.

Jerry played his first game for the Revolution on July 8, 2012. He came into the game as a substitute and scored his first goal in the 84th minute. This helped the Revolution win 2–0 against the New York Red Bulls. After this, he went to play for Honduras in the 2012 Olympic Games. He played very well there, scoring three goals in four games. In his first season with the Revolution, Jerry played 13 games and scored 2 goals.

In the 2013 season, Jerry played 16 games and scored one goal. This goal was the winning goal in the first game of the season. In August 2013, he went on loan to a Greek club called Panionios.

Jerry played 7 games for the Revolution in the 2014 season. He scored one goal on April 12, 2014, in a 2–0 win. This was against the Houston Dynamo. Later, in July 2014, he went on loan to an Argentine team, Belgrano.

Even though Jerry played well for his country, he found it hard to fit in with the Revolution's style of play. He started only 23 games and scored just four goals in three seasons. His goal against Houston was his last for the Revolution. In June 2015, he left the team.

Adventures in Iran: Persepolis and Zob Ahan

On July 29, 2015, Jerry signed a one-year contract with Persepolis in Iran. He played his first game for them as a substitute. He scored his first goal for Persepolis on September 25, 2015. This was against Tractor Sazi. He also scored the only goal for Persepolis in a big game against Esteghlal. This goal came in the last moments of the game.

On April 22, 2016, Jerry scored two goals in a 2–0 win. This helped Persepolis stay at the top of the league table. Persepolis finished the season tied for first place. They lost the championship only because of goal difference.

In July 2016, Jerry signed a one-year contract with another Iranian club, Zob Ahan. With Zob Ahan, he won the Iranian Super Cup in 2016.

Playing in Costa Rica: Saprissa

On May 31, 2017, Jerry signed a one-year contract with the Costa Rican club Saprissa. He faced some challenges early in his time there. He left Saprissa at the end of the season. His last game was a win against Herediano in the final.

Return to Honduras: Olimpia

On June 6, 2018, Jerry Bengtson returned to Honduras. He joined Olimpia, one of the biggest clubs in the country. In December 2021, Jerry scored the only goal in a 1–0 win against Real España. This goal made Olimpia the champions of the 2021 Apertura tournament. He has continued to be a key player for Olimpia, winning many league titles and the 2022 CONCACAF League with them.

Jerry Bengtson first played for the Honduras national team in April 2010. This was in a friendly game against Venezuela. He has represented his country in several important tournaments. He played in the 2012 London Olympics. He also played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, he has been part of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011, 2021, and 2023.
