Jia Xiuquan (simplified Chinese: 贾秀全; traditional Chinese: 賈秀全; pinyin: Jiǎ Xiùquán; born 9 November 1963) is a Chinese football manager and former international player. He played as a defender and is known for being one of the first Chinese players to play football in Europe. He also managed several teams, including the China women's national football team.

Jia Xiuquan's Playing Career
Playing for Bayi Football Team
Jia Xiuquan spent most of his playing career with the Bayi Football Team. He helped them win two league titles. The first title was in 1981, and the second was in 1986. Jia also won the Chinese Football Association Golden Ball award three times. He received this award in 1983, 1984, and 1986.
Playing in Europe and Asia
After his success in China, Jia Xiuquan became one of the first Chinese players to join foreign teams. In 1988, he moved to Yugoslavia to play for FK Partizan. He was a pioneer, as only a few other Chinese players had played in Europe before him.
Jia played 10 matches for Partizan in the 1987–88 season. The team finished second in the league that year. He also made history by becoming the first Chinese footballer to play in the UEFA Cup. This happened in a match against AS Roma in October 1988. Partizan won the Yugoslav Cup that season.
After Yugoslavia, Jia moved to the Malaysian club PDRM FA. Later, he played for Gamba Osaka in Japan. He joined them for the first season of the J.League in 1993. Jia was the first Chinese player ever to play in the J.League. He played 25 league games for Gamba Osaka.
Jia Xiuquan's International Career
Playing for China's National Team
Jia Xiuquan made his debut for the Chinese national team in 1982. He became very well-known during the 1984 AFC Asian Cup. China finished as runners-up in that tournament. Jia was named the Asian Cup Most Valuable Player for his excellent performance.
He was a regular player for the national team. From 1987 to 1992, he was the team captain. He played in the 1988 AFC Asian Cup and 1992 AFC Asian Cup. In total, he played 55 matches for his country. He also represented China at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
Jia Xiuquan's Managerial Career
Starting as a Coach
After he stopped playing, Jia Xiuquan started his coaching career. He returned to Bayi Football Team as a coach for a short time. Later, he managed Shaanxi Guoli, a newly formed team. He helped them get promoted to the second tier of the Chinese league in 1997.
His success caught the attention of the Chinese Football Association. They offered him the chance to coach the China national under-17 football team. However, the team did not qualify for any major tournaments under his leadership.
Coaching Youth and Club Teams
In 2000, Jia Xiuquan joined Shanghai Shenhua as a trainer. He then returned to coach Bayi Football Team again. He worked hard to keep them in the top league. After leaving Bayi, he coached the China national under-23 football team.
He also had another coaching role at Shanghai Shenhua. He became the acting head coach for most of the season. In 2005, Jia went back to manage the Chinese under-23 team. His goal was to prepare them for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Managing Top-Tier Clubs
In 2008, Henan Jianye offered Jia the chance to manage their team in the top league. He later took over as manager for Shanghai Shenhua on a permanent basis. He led Shanghai to a second-place finish in the league. He returned to manage Henan Jianye again in 2014.
Coaching the China Women's National Team
From 2018 to 2021, Jia Xiuquan managed the China women's national football team. This was a significant role in his coaching career.
