John Alexander Scott (born on January 14, 1948) is a Scottish football coach and former player. He is often known as Jocky Scott.

During his time as a player, he played for famous teams like Dundee, Aberdeen, and the Seattle Sounders in the USA. He also played for the Scotland national team.

After he stopped playing, Jocky Scott became a football manager. He managed many clubs, including Aberdeen, Dundee (three different times), Arbroath, Dunfermline Athletic, Notts County, Raith Rovers, and Stirling Albion. He also worked as a coach at other clubs in Scotland and England.

Jocky Scott's Playing Days

Jocky Scott played club football for Dundee and Aberdeen. He helped both clubs win the Scottish League Cup. A memorable moment was when he scored three goals (a hat-trick) for Aberdeen against Rangers in a League Cup semi-final in October 1976. Aberdeen won that game 5–1.

He also played for the Scotland national team twice in 1971. In 1977, he played in the Soccer Bowl final with the Seattle Sounders in the North American Soccer League. His team lost 1–2 to the New York Cosmos.

Becoming a Football Manager

After his playing career, Jocky Scott started managing football teams. He managed several clubs, including Aberdeen, Dundee (on three separate occasions), Arbroath, Dunfermline Athletic, Notts County, Raith Rovers, and Stirling Albion.

He also had coaching jobs at clubs like Sunderland, Plymouth Argyle, and Hibernian. At Plymouth Argyle and Hibernian, he also stepped in as a temporary manager (called a caretaker manager).

In September 2012, Aberdeen asked Jocky Scott to join their coaching team again.
