John Alexander "Jocky" Scott (born on January 14, 1948) is a Scottish football coach and former player. He was known for playing as a striker.

During his time as a player, he played for famous clubs like Dundee, Aberdeen, and the Seattle Sounders. He also played for the Scotland national team.

After he stopped playing, Jocky Scott became a football manager. He managed many teams, including Aberdeen, Dundee (three different times!), Arbroath, Dunfermline Athletic, Notts County, Raith Rovers, and Stirling Albion. He also worked as a coach at several other clubs in Scotland and England.

Jocky Scott's Playing Career

Jocky Scott played club football for Dundee and Aberdeen. He helped both clubs win the Scottish League Cup, which is a big football competition in Scotland.

A memorable moment in his playing career was when he scored a hat-trick (three goals in one game) for Aberdeen. This happened when Aberdeen beat Rangers 5–1 in a League Cup semi-final match.

In 1971, he was chosen to play for the Scotland national team twice.

Later, he played for the Seattle Sounders in the North American Soccer League in the United States. In 1977, his team reached the Soccer Bowl final but lost 1–2 to the New York Cosmos.

Jocky Scott's Managerial Career

After his playing days, Jocky Scott became a football manager. He led several teams throughout his career.

He managed Aberdeen and had three separate spells as manager of Dundee. He also managed Arbroath, Dunfermline Athletic, Notts County, Raith Rovers, and Stirling Albion.

Besides managing, he also worked as a coach for clubs like Sunderland, Plymouth Argyle, and Hibernian. At Plymouth Argyle and Hibernian, he also took on the role of "caretaker manager" for a short time, meaning he was in charge temporarily.

In September 2012, Aberdeen asked Jocky Scott to join their coaching team again.

Personal Life

Jocky Scott comes from a football family. His father, Willie Scott, was also a footballer. Willie played for Aberdeen and Newcastle United in the 1930s.
