Joely Kim Richardson (born on January 9, 1965) is a talented British actress. She is known for her roles in popular TV shows and movies. You might recognize her as Julia McNamara in the drama series Nip/Tuck. She also played Katherine Parr in The Tudors.

Early Life and Family
Joely Richardson was born in Marylebone, London. She comes from a very famous acting family, the Redgrave family. Her mother is the well-known actress Vanessa Redgrave. Her father was a film director named Tony Richardson.
Joely's grandparents, Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, were also famous actors. Her sister, Natasha Richardson, was also an actress. Joely's aunt, Lynn Redgrave, and uncle, Corin Redgrave, were actors too.
Education and Early Interests
When Joely was three years old, she appeared as an extra in a movie her father directed. This movie was called The Charge of the Light Brigade.
Joely and her sister Natasha went to St Paul's Girls' School in London. When she was 14, Joely moved to Florida to attend a tennis school. She dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player. Later, she returned to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She finished her studies there in 1985.
Acting Career Highlights
After her time at the tennis academy, Joely decided to pursue acting. In 1985, she played a younger version of her mother's character in the film Wetherby. Her first big role for a wide audience was in a 1989 episode of Poirot.
Notable Film Roles
In 1991, Joely played Princess Anna in the comedy film King Ralph. A few years later, she appeared in 101 Dalmatians as Anita Campbell-Green. She starred alongside Glenn Close, who played the villain Cruella de Vil.
In 1997, Joely was in the science fiction horror film Event Horizon. She played Lieutenant Starck, an officer on a rescue ship. In 2000, she acted with Mel Gibson in the American Revolution film The Patriot. She also played Marie Antoinette in the 2001 film The Affair of the Necklace.
Television Success
From 2003 to 2010, Joely Richardson had a main role in the TV drama Nip/Tuck. She played Julia McNamara, a character involved with plastic surgeons. Her real-life mother, Vanessa Redgrave, even played her character's mother in some episodes.
From 2009 to 2010, Joely played Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII, in the final season of The Tudors. She also joined the cast of Titanic: Blood and Steel in 2012. In 2015, she co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the zombie film Maggie. More recently, she appeared in the TV series The Sandman in 2022.
Personal Life and Charity Work
Joely Richardson married film producer Tim Bevan in 1992. They later divorced in 2001. They have a daughter together named Daisy Bevan, who is also an actress.
Joely is an ambassador for The Children's Trust. This is a leading charity in the UK that helps children with brain injuries. She also supports Save the Children, a charity that helps children around the world.
