Joely Kim Richardson (born 9 January 1965) is a British actress. She comes from a famous family of actors. Joely is well-known for her roles in TV shows like Nip/Tuck and The Tudors.

Joely Kim Richardson was born in Marylebone, London. She is part of the famous Redgrave family, known for acting. Her mother is actress Vanessa Redgrave. Her father was director Tony Richardson.
Her grandparents, Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, were also actors. Joely's sister, Natasha Richardson, was also an actress. Liam Neeson is her brother-in-law. She is also related to her aunt Lynn Redgrave and cousin Jemma Redgrave.
Childhood and Education
When she was three years old, Joely appeared as an extra in the 1968 film The Charge of the Light Brigade. Her father directed this movie. Joely and her sister Natasha went to St Paul's Girls' School in London.
At age 14, Joely moved to a tennis boarding school in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from the Thacher School in Ojai, California, in 1983. After that, she returned to London to study acting. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and finished her studies in 1985.

One year later, in 2000, Richardson appeared with Mel Gibson in the film The Patriot. This American film was set during the American Revolution. She also appeared in Maybe Baby that year. In 2001, she played Marie-Antoinette in The Affair of the Necklace.

Richardson is also an ambassador for two charities. She supports The Children's Trust, which helps children with brain injuries. She also works with Save the Children, a charity that helps children around the world.
