John Dilworth's Animation Journey

John Russell Dilworth was born in New York City on February 14, 1963. He studied at the School of Visual Arts. After graduating, he worked in advertising. But in his free time, he focused on making his own animated films. He often paid for these projects himself.

His animated short film, The Chicken from Outer Space, was a big success. It was even nominated for an Academy Award in 1996. Cartoon Network saw its potential and asked Dilworth to turn it into a TV series. This short film became the start of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Dilworth also worked on other well-known shows. He helped create the original opening for Nicktoons. He also contributed to the animated series Doug. He directed the first episode of Sniz & Fondue, called Psyched For Snuppa.

He also made a series of nine short cartoons for Sesame Street. These were based on his independent film, "Noodles & Nedd".

Famous Short Films

Dilworth's short film Angry Cabaret was shown on MTV in 1994. Another one of his breakout films was The Dirdy Birdy. This film aired on MTV's Cartoon Sushi and on Comedy Central.

He also worked as an animation consultant for Gumby: The Movie. He was one of the directors for Drew Carey's Green Screen Show. Dilworth also helped animate some of the early Richard Scarry video series.

In 2013, Dilworth appeared in the animated short Subconscious Password. In 2017, he finished a new short film called Goose in High Heels.
