Jonathon Gary Frank Mirasty, born on June 4, 1982, is a Cree Canadian who used to play professional ice hockey. He played in many different leagues, including the KHL, AHL, and ECHL. Fans and teammates called him "Nasty" because of his unique Mohawk hairstyle and how he would sometimes laugh during his fights on the ice.

Playing Hockey
Early Career and Junior Leagues
Jon Mirasty started his hockey journey playing junior ice hockey. From 1999 to 2003, he played for various teams in leagues like the SJHL, WHL, and MJHL. These leagues help young players get ready for professional hockey.
Turning Professional
In 2003, Mirasty became a professional player. He signed with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL. Over the next few years, he played for different teams in lower-level professional leagues, such as the Sorel-Tracy Mission in the LNAH and the Danbury Trashers in the UHL.
Playing in Higher Leagues
Even though he thought about quitting hockey in 2006, Mirasty got a big chance in 2007. He joined the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. The AHL is a step below the top professional league, the NHL. He even played in some NHL exhibition games while playing for the Crunch for four seasons.
Later, he played for the Fort Wayne Komets and the Elmira Jackals. After that, he moved overseas to play for two seasons in the KHL. This league has teams in Russia and Kazakhstan.
Later Hockey Years
After playing in the KHL, Mirasty came back to North America. He continued to play professional hockey for a few more years. His last main professional season was in 2014–15 in the LNAH. He played his very last professional game in 2022–23. Since 2015, he has mostly played senior hockey, which is for older players.
Other Activities
Mixed Martial Arts
When he was younger, Jon Mirasty was also a talented boxer. He won championships in 1998 and 1999. In 2007, he tried MMA, which combines different fighting styles. He had one professional MMA fight in Montreal.
Acting on TV
Mirasty also tried acting! He appeared as a hockey player in the television series Shoresy.
Life Off the Ice
Family and Heritage
Jon Mirasty is a Cree Canadian Indian. He is married to Janessa Mirasty and they have three children: a son named Triston and two daughters, Ava and Bexlee. He is also a distant cousin of another hockey player, Jeremy Yablonski.
Mirasty grew up learning the Cree language from his grandparents. He can speak it quite well. His grandfather, Frank, was even the chief of the Flying Dust First Nation.
Community and Business
After his long hockey career, Mirasty decided to try business. He opened the first Tim Hortons coffee shop in his hometown area in 2016. However, he and his family had to sell the business after a few months because he faced some health problems.
In March 2023, Jon Mirasty was chosen to be a council member for the Flying Dust First Nation. This shows his commitment to his community and heritage. When he's not busy with community work or coaching his son in hockey, he enjoys training horses on his ranch in Meadow Lake.
