Jophery Clifford Brown (born January 22, 1945 – died January 11, 2014) was a very interesting person! He was a professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in Major League Baseball. But that's not all! He was also a famous stunt man and actor in many movies and TV shows.

Jophery Brown's Baseball Career
Jophery Brown went to Grambling State University. Major league baseball teams tried to draft him three times. He finally signed with the Chicago Cubs in 1966.
He only played one game in the major leagues. This happened on September 21, 1968. He played against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Forbes Field. Brown came into the game after two other pitchers. He allowed one run in two innings of pitching. He famously got the opposing pitcher, Dock Ellis, out with a line drive. After that, he was replaced by a pinch-hitter and never pitched in the major leagues again.
Jophery Brown's Acting and Stunt Career
Jophery Brown had a long and exciting career in Hollywood. His first TV role was in 1964. He played a police officer in an episode of Arrest and Trial. The next year, he started working as a stunt man on the show I Spy.
His big break in movies came in 1973 with the film Coffy. From then on, he worked for 35 years! He acted in 35 films and performed stunts in 115 movies. Sometimes, he worked on as many as seven movies in just one year.
Awards and Recognition
Jophery Brown won a special award called the World Stunt Award. He won it for "Best Work with a Vehicle" for a car-chase scene in the movie Bad Boys II. He shared this award with nine other stunt performers.
He was also nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. This was for "Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble" in the movie "Wanted" (2008). This movie was the last one he worked on.

Brown was a stunt double for famous actor Morgan Freeman in three movies:

- The Sum of All Fears (2002)
- Dreamcatcher (2003)
He also worked as a stunt coordinator for many movies. A stunt coordinator plans and directs all the dangerous action scenes. Some of the movies he coordinated stunts for include:

- Action Jackson (1988)
- Jurassic Park (1993) – He also played the gatekeeper in this movie!
- Sudden Death (1995)
His baseball skills were very useful for the movie Bingo Long. In this film, he was both the stunt coordinator and played a character named Emory "Champ" Chambers, who was a third baseman.
His last acting role was a small part as a chef in the movie Spider-Man (2002).
Jophery Brown's Later Life and Death
Jophery Brown passed away on January 11, 2014. He was 68 years old, just 11 days before his 69th birthday. He died from health problems related to cancer treatment.
