Joseph Xavier Forte (born March 23, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for two seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Forte was also recognized as an All-American player during his time at the University of North Carolina.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Joseph Forte began his basketball journey at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. He played under the guidance of the famous high school coach, Morgan Wootten. One of Forte's teammates at DeMatha, Keith Bogans, also went on to play in the NBA.
In his final year of high school, Forte was named the Washington Post All-Met Basketball Player of the Year. During that season, he averaged 22.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
College and NBA Career
After high school, Joseph Forte played college basketball for two years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He showed amazing skill during his college career.
College Success
In 2000, Forte earned the title of Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year. The following year, in 2001, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. His impressive play made him a standout player in college basketball.
Playing in the NBA
In the 2001 NBA draft, the Boston Celtics chose Joseph Forte as the 21st pick. Some other future star players, like Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas, were still available at that time.
Forte played in the NBA for two seasons, appearing in a total of 25 games. He played 8 games for the Boston Celtics in his first year. In his second season, he played 17 games for the Seattle SuperSonics. Forte averaged 1.2 points and 0.7 assists per game during his NBA career. He found it challenging to switch from his natural position as a shooting guard to a point guard. His last NBA game was on April 16, 2003.
Playing Overseas
After his time with the Sonics, Forte looked for a spot in the NBA but did not find one. He then joined the Asheville Altitude in the NBA D-League. In the summer of 2005, he played with Team Certified in the Entertainers Basketball Classic at Rucker Park.
After that summer, Forte moved to Greece to play for Apollon Patras. He then joined the Italian team Montepaschi Siena, which won the Italian championship in 2007.
In July 2007, he signed with the Russian team UNICS Kazan. He later played for Fortitudo Bologna and Snaidero Udine in Italy. In 2010, he joined Nuova Pallacanestro Pavia, another Italian team.
Forte signed with Pistoia Basket in Italy for the 2011 season. He averaged 18.9 points and 3.6 assists per game there. In one game on January 9, 2011, he scored 34 points, which was one of the highest single-game totals in the team's history.
In October 2011, Forte had a trial with the Israeli team Ironi Ashkelon. However, he ended up signing with the Iranian Basketball Super League team Petrochimi Bandar Imam BC for 2012.
Family Life
Joseph Forte has a younger brother named Jason Forte. Jason also played college basketball for Brown University. He was named the Ivy League player of the year in 2004.
