Joseph Marcell is a talented British actor and comedian. He was born in Saint Lucia on August 14, 1948. Many people know him best for playing Geoffrey Butler, the witty butler on the popular TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This show aired from 1990 to 1996.
When Joseph was nine years old, he moved from Saint Lucia to the United Kingdom. He grew up in Peckham, a part of South London. Today, he lives in Banstead, Surrey. He studied acting and dance at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Joseph Marcell's Acting Journey
Joseph Marcell grew up in South East London. He became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, a famous theater group. With them, he performed in well-known plays like Othello and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
He has also appeared in many movies and TV shows in Britain. Joseph is part of the board at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. He has performed in nationwide productions of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing and King Lear.
In May 2016, he played Gonzalo in Shakespeare’s play The Tempest at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. In January 2016, he also played Solly Two Kings in the play Gem of the Ocean by August Wilson at the Tricycle Theatre in London. In July 2017, Joseph Marcell began practicing for the role of Titus Andronicus with the La Grande Shakespeare Company in La Grande, Oregon.
