Josh Nathanial Allen (born December 30, 1991) is a former American football player who played as a center. He played college football at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and went to Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas. He also played for several professional teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, and San Francisco 49ers.

Early Life and High School Football

Josh Allen grew up in Dallas, Texas. He played high school football for the Cedar Hill High School Longhorns. Josh was a great player, earning first-team honors in his district in 2009. He was even chosen to play in a special game called the Team USA vs. World All-Star Game!

Josh helped his team win district championships in both 2008 and 2009. During his senior year, he played both tackle and center positions. Besides football, Josh also earned awards in powerlifting and track & field.

College Career

After high school, Josh Allen played college football for the Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks. He was part of their team from 2010 to 2013.

Professional Football Journey

After college, Josh Allen started his professional football career. He was not chosen in the 2014 NFL draft, but he still signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May 2014.

He spent time with a few different teams, often moving between the main roster and the practice squad. The practice squad is where players train with the team but aren't on the active game-day roster.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Josh had several stints with the Buccaneers. He first joined them in 2014 and made his official NFL debut on December 14, 2014. He continued to be part of the Buccaneers' organization through 2016 and into 2017.
  • Green Bay Packers: For a short time in 2014, Josh was part of the Green Bay Packers' practice squad.
  • San Francisco 49ers: In December 2016, he briefly played for the San Francisco 49ers.
  • Calgary Stampeders: In 2017, Josh moved to Canada and joined the Calgary Stampeders' practice roster in the CFL.
  • Arizona Cardinals: In 2018, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals but was later waived.
  • Arizona Hotshots: In 2019, Josh played for the Arizona Hotshots in a new league called the Alliance of American Football. This league stopped operating in April 2019.
  • Dallas Renegades: His last team was the Dallas Renegades in the XFL in 2020. The XFL also stopped its operations, ending his contract.
