Joshua O'Neal Jackson (born February 10, 1997) is an American professional basketball player. He used to play for teams like the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons. Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. He was picked fourth in the 2017 NBA draft by the Suns.

Early Life and High School Career
Josh Jackson was born in San Diego County, California. When he was a baby, his family moved to Michigan. He loved basketball so much that he repeated eighth grade to focus on his game. He went to Consortium College Prep School in Detroit, Michigan for his first two years of high school. Later, he moved to Napa, California and attended Justin-Siena High School for his last two years.
High School Achievements
As a freshman, Jackson averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks per game. In his sophomore year, he led his school to their first state championship. He averaged 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists per game that year.
When he moved to California, he played for Prolific Prep. As a junior, he averaged 31.2 points and 5.4 assists per game. In his senior year, he averaged 26.9 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
In March 2016, Jackson played in the 2016 McDonald's All-American Game. He scored 19 points and was named co-MVP of the game. Experts considered him one of the best high school players in 2016.
College Basketball at Kansas
On April 11, 2016, Josh Jackson announced he would play basketball for the University of Kansas. He chose Kansas over other big schools like Michigan State and Arizona.
During his only season at Kansas, Jackson showed he was a great all-around player. He scored, rebounded, passed, and defended well. He averaged 16.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.
Because of his strong performance, he earned many awards. He was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year. He was also recognized as a second-team All-American by Sporting News. On April 17, 2017, Jackson decided to leave college early to enter the 2017 NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Career
Phoenix Suns (2017–2019)
On June 22, 2017, the Phoenix Suns picked Josh Jackson as the fourth overall player in the 2017 NBA draft. He signed his first professional contract on July 3, 2017.
Rookie Season (2017–18)
Jackson played well in the 2017 NBA Summer League. He averaged 17.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. This earned him a spot on the All-Summer League First Team.
He made his NBA debut on October 18, 2017, as a starting player for the Suns. On January 7, 2018, he had his first "double-double" with 17 points and 10 rebounds. A double-double means getting 10 or more in two different stats, like points and rebounds.
Jackson continued to improve throughout his rookie year. He scored a career-high 36 points in a game on March 17, 2018. At the end of the season, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. This award recognizes the best new players in the league.
Second Season (2018–19)
Jackson represented the Suns at the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery. The Suns won the first pick for the first time in their history. He played in the 2018 NBA Summer League with the Suns' new top pick, Deandre Ayton.
In the first game of the 2018-19 season, Jackson scored 18 points. He continued to play for the Suns during this season.
Memphis Grizzlies (2019–2020)
On July 7, 2019, Jackson was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He also spent time playing for the Memphis Hustle, which is the Grizzlies' minor league team in the NBA G League.
While playing for the Hustle, he averaged 20.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. His strong play earned him a spot on the Midseason All-NBA G League team for the Western Conference.
Detroit Pistons (2020–2022)
On December 1, 2020, Jackson signed with his hometown team, the Detroit Pistons. He played his first game for them on December 23, scoring 19 points.
On April 1, 2021, Jackson scored a season-high 31 points. He finished the 2020–21 season averaging a career-high 13.4 points per game. On January 3, 2022, he scored a season-high 24 points against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Sacramento Kings (2022)
On February 10, 2022, Jackson was traded to the Sacramento Kings. This trade reunited him with some of his former teammates from the Phoenix Suns.
He later signed with the Toronto Raptors on August 31, 2022, but was waived by them on October 14.
Stockton Kings (2023)
On January 24, 2023, Jackson signed with the Stockton Kings, another NBA G League team. He was waived four days later.

Personal Life and Interests
Josh Jackson was raised by his mother, Apples Jones, and his stepfather, Clarence Jones. His stepfather passed away in 2014. Josh's mother was also a talented basketball player in college. She even had a chance to play professionally but chose to focus on raising Josh instead.
Outside of basketball, Josh enjoys playing chess and the saxophone. He even started a chess club at his high school!
Endorsements
On June 21, 2017, just before the NBA draft, Josh Jackson signed a deal with Under Armour. This means he wears and promotes their sports gear. Other young NBA players also signed with Under Armour around the same time.
