Josh Stewart (born February 6, 1977) is an American actor. He is well-known for his roles in TV shows like Dirt and Criminal Minds. He also appeared in movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar, and Tenet. Stewart has also directed and written films.

Josh Stewart was born in Diana, West Virginia. His father was a high school physical education teacher and a pastor. His mother taught sixth grade.
Stewart first went to West Virginia Wesleyan College. Later, he moved to West Virginia University to study business. After college, he moved to New York City to become an actor.

Starting Out in Acting
Josh Stewart began his acting journey in local theater. He performed at the Landmark Theatre in Sutton, West Virginia. He then moved to New York City to study acting. He also performed in plays in Los Angeles.
Stewart had small roles in TV shows like Dawson's Creek and CSI. He also appeared in a commercial for Levi's jeans. He became a recurring character, Detective William LaMontagne Jr., in the popular show Criminal Minds. He played the boyfriend and later husband of SSA Jennifer "JJ" Jareau.

Stewart got a big break when he was cast in the final season of the NBC series Third Watch. He played Brendan Finney, the son of a police captain.
After Third Watch, Stewart starred in a movie called Lenexa, 1 Mile. Then, he joined the TV series Dirt with Courteney Cox Arquette. He played Holt McLaren in this show. In 2017, Stewart starred as Solotov in the thriller drama Shooter.
In 2018, Stewart joined the cast of Netflix's The Punisher. He acted alongside Alexa Davalos, who is his wife in real life.

In 2009, he had his first main role in the horror movie The Collector. He played Arkin, a man trying to rob a house to pay off his wife's debts. He also appeared in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises as Barsad. Stewart also voiced CASE in Nolan's sci-fi film Interstellar. In 2016, he was in the Disney film The Finest Hours.
Directing and Writing
Josh Stewart made his debut as a director and writer with the 2013 film The Hunted. He also starred in the movie. The film is about two men, Jake (Stewart) and Stevie, who go into the woods to film a TV show. They soon realize something is hunting them.
Stewart also directed and starred in the 2019 film Back Fork.
Personal Life
Josh Stewart married Deanna Brigidi in 2007. They had two children: a daughter named Ryan Justine (born 2008) and a son named River Jacob (born 2010). They separated in 2014 and divorced in 2016.
In 2012, Stewart had a serious health issue but recovered well. He later married actress Alexa Davalos on May 19, 2019. They worked together on the show The Punisher.
