Julian is a small community in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is not an official town but is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population surveys. Julian is part of the larger State College, Pennsylvania area.
Most people say the name "Joo-lee-ann." The community got its name from Julia Ann Irvin. She was the wife of a person who owned a local blast furnace, which was a factory for making metal.

U.S. Route 220 Alternate is a main road that goes through Julian. If you drive northeast on this road, you will reach Milesburg, Pennsylvania, which is about 10 miles away. If you go southwest, you will find Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, about 8 miles away. State College, Pennsylvania is also about 10 miles to the southeast, just over Bald Eagle Mountain.
