Julian Brandt (born on May 2, 1996) is a German professional footballer. He plays as a left winger or attacking midfielder for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. He also plays for the Germany national team.
Brandt played many games for Germany's youth teams. He played at every level from Under-15 to Under-21. He was part of the team that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2014.

Club Career Highlights
Starting Out in Football
Julian Brandt was born and grew up in Bremen, Germany. He started playing football in his hometown. He played for youth clubs like SC Borgfeld and FC Oberneuland. Later, he joined the youth academy of VfL Wolfsburg.
Time at Bayer Leverkusen
In January 2014, Brandt moved to Bayer Leverkusen. He signed a professional contract with the club. He made his first professional appearance on February 15, 2014. This was in a Bundesliga match against Schalke 04.
A few days later, he played his first Champions League game. On April 4, 2014, he scored his first goal for Bayer Leverkusen. This was an important moment in his early career.
In August 2015, Brandt scored the winning goal against 1899 Hoffenheim. Between March and April 2016, he scored in six Bundesliga games in a row. He became the youngest player since Gerd Müller to do this. On December 7, 2016, he scored his first Champions League goal. This was in a 3–0 win against Monaco.
On August 26, 2017, Brandt made his 100th Bundesliga appearance for Leverkusen. He was the youngest player from the club to reach this milestone.
During the 2018–19 season, his coach Peter Bosz changed his position. Brandt moved from playing on the wing to a more central midfield role. This change helped him score more goals and make more assists. In February 2019, he won the Player of the Month award. He was the first Leverkusen player to receive this honor.
Joining Borussia Dortmund

On May 22, 2019, Julian Brandt joined Borussia Dortmund. He signed a five-year contract with the club. Dortmund was interested in him because of his great performance at Leverkusen.
Brandt scored his first Bundesliga goal for Borussia Dortmund on August 17, 2019. This was in his very first match for the club. Later that year, on November 5, he scored his first Champions League goal for Dortmund. This goal helped them win 3–2 against Inter Milan.
Brandt became a very important player in Dortmund's midfield. He helped the team win the DFB-Pokal in the 2020–21 season. He also played in the Champions League final on June 1, 2024. Dortmund lost that game 2–0 to Real Madrid. In July 2024, he received the number 10 shirt for the 2024–25 season.
Playing for Germany
On May 17, 2016, Brandt was chosen for Germany's team for UEFA Euro 2016. He was also part of the team for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Germany won a silver medal at these Olympics.
On June 4, 2018, Brandt was included in Germany's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He played his first World Cup game on June 17. This was against Mexico.
He was also named in the German squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
