Julian Brandt: A Football Star
His Early Football Journey
Julian Brandt grew up in Bremen, Germany. He started playing football in his hometown. He played for SC Borgfeld and then FC Oberneuland. Later, he joined the youth academy of VfL Wolfsburg. This is where young players learn to become professionals.
Playing for Bayer Leverkusen
In January 2014, Julian moved to Bayer Leverkusen. He signed a professional contract with them until 2019. He made his first professional appearance on February 15, 2014. This was in a Bundesliga match against Schalke 04.
A few days later, he played his first game in the UEFA Champions League. This is a big European club competition. On April 4, 2014, he scored his first goal for Bayer Leverkusen.
On August 15, 2015, Julian scored the winning goal against 1899 Hoffenheim. This was in Bayer's first match of the 2015–16 season. From March to April 2016, he scored in six Bundesliga games in a row. He was the youngest player since Gerd Müller to do this!
On December 7, 2016, he scored his first Champions League goal. This was in a 3–0 win against Monaco. On August 26, 2017, Julian became the youngest Leverkusen player to reach 100 Bundesliga games. He was just 21 years old.
In the 2018–19 season, Julian's coach changed his position. He started playing more in the middle of the field. This helped him score more goals and make more assists. He even won the "Player of the Month" award in February 2019.
Moving to Borussia Dortmund
Julian Brandt was a top player for Leverkusen. He scored seven goals and made eleven assists in the league. This helped Leverkusen finish fourth in the Bundesliga.
On May 22, 2019, Julian moved to Borussia Dortmund. He signed a five-year contract. Dortmund paid about €25 million for him.

Julian scored his first Bundesliga goal for Borussia Dortmund on August 17. It was in his very first game against FC Augsburg. Later that year, on November 5, he scored his first Champions League goal for Dortmund. This was in a 3–2 win over Inter Milan.
Julian became a very important player in Dortmund's midfield. He helped the team win the DFB-Pokal (German Cup). They also finished second in the 2022–23 Bundesliga. On June 1, 2024, he played in the Champions League final. Dortmund lost 2–0 to Real Madrid. A month later, he got the number 10 shirt for the new season.
Playing for Germany
On May 17, 2016, Julian was chosen for Germany's team for UEFA Euro 2016. He was also part of the team for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Germany won a silver medal at these games.
On June 4, 2018, Julian was picked for Germany's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He played his first World Cup game on June 17. He came on as a substitute against Mexico.
On November 10, 2022, he was again named in the German squad. This was for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
