Jyotsna Radhakrishnan (born on September 5, 1986) is a talented playback singer from India. She is well-known for singing in many different languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Jyotsna has sung over 1000 songs! She lives in Thrissur, Kerala.

Jyotsna became very famous for her popular songs like “Karuppinazhaku” from the movie Swapnakoodu (2003). Other hits include “Themma Themma Themmadikkatte” from Rain Rain Come Again (2004) and "Raftara" from Lucifer (2019).

Her Early Life

Jyotsna was born in Kuwait. When she was very young, her family moved to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

She went to the Asian International School in Ruwais, which is an industrial area about 240 kilometers (150 miles) west of Abu Dhabi. She was excellent at singing during her school days.

Starting Her Music Journey

Jyotsna loved music from a very young age. She learned different styles of singing. She studied Carnatic music with Mangad Natesan and Hindustani classical music with Guru Dinesh Devdas.

She started her singing career in Malayalam movies in 2002. Her first song was "Valakilukkam Kettedee" from the film Pranayamani Thooval. But it was the song "Sughamanee Nilavu" from Nammal that made her widely known.

Jyotsna has sung in almost 800 movies. These include films in Malayalam, as well as in Tamil and Telugu. She has also sung for about 200 music albums. Some of her big hits are "Karuppinazhagu" from Swapnakoodu, "Melleyonnu" from Manassinakkare, and "Meheruba" from Perumazhakkalam. She also sang "Raftara" in the movie Lucifer.

Top Songs and Performances

Some of her more recent films where she sang include Classmates, Pothen Vava, Don, Notebook, and Janmam. Jyotsna has traveled to many countries for musical shows. She has performed in the UK, the US, Australia, and Singapore. She has shared the stage with almost all the top playback singers from South India.

She also completed a tour in North America with singer G. Venugopal. In August 2013, she toured Australia with Unni Menon, performing for Malayalees in major cities. This was her first trip to Australia, and Ramesh Pisharody joined her.

Life Outside Music

On December 26, 2010, Jyotsna married Sreekanth Surendran. He is a software engineer from Kochi. They welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on July 9, 2015.

  • She won the "Yuva Prathibha" award from Pallavoor Appu Marar Smaraka Kala KshetRa in 2003.
  • She received the All Kerala Youth Campus Critics Award in 2004.
  • She was given the Mahatma Gandhi Education Foundation Award in 2004.
  • She won the "Outstanding Young Person" Award from Jaycees.
  • She received the Kaveri Film Critics TV Award in 2004.
  • She won the Jaycees Foundation Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
