The Kamma Mountains are a mountain range found in Nevada, a state in the United States. These mountains are located in both Pershing County and Humboldt County.

On the western side of the Kamma Mountains, you can find a place called Sulphur, Nevada. Sulphur is a "ghost town," which means it was once a busy place but is now mostly empty. It also has a "railroad siding," which is a short track next to a main railway line where trains can stop or be moved aside. Sulphur sits at the edge of the Black Rock Desert.

Mining in the Kamma Mountains

The Kamma Mountains are an important area for mining in Nevada. This region is known as the Sulphur Mining District.

A large mine called the Hycroft Gold Mine operates here. It is a "strip mine," which means miners remove layers of earth and rock from the surface to get to the valuable minerals underneath.

This mine mainly digs for gold. A company called Allied Nevada Gold Corporation started operating the mine again in 2008.

Roads and Travel

A road called Jungo Road, also known as Nevada State Route 49, helps people travel through the Kamma Mountains.

This road goes east from the mountains to a town called Winnemucca. It also goes south, passing through Sulphur, to another town called Gerlach.
