How the Show Worked
The Karaoke Star Jr. team traveled to eight different cities across Canada. These cities included Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, and St. John's. Young singers, aged 6 to 15, could try out there.
Auditions and Voting
In each city, five singers (or seven in Toronto) were chosen to perform for the judges. After their performances, people could vote for their favorite singer from that city using text messages (SMS). The singer with the most votes from each city became a finalist.
Singers could also audition online! They would upload a video of themselves singing. Just like the city auditions, the public voted for their favorite online singer, called a "cyberstar." The cyberstar with the most votes joined the finalists. The judges also picked their own favorite cyberstar to compete in the finale.
The Grand Finale
These ten finalists traveled to Calgary for the "Performance Showdown" on May 18. They all sang their best, and then the public voted again for their favorite. The very next day, May 19, was the big Finale! The winner, who received the most votes, was announced and won a grand prize of $5000!
