Starting Out in Youth Football

However, things didn't work out for him there. He left Bayern Munich in 2012. After that, he joined another club called SpVgg Unterhaching. He played through their youth teams. In March 2018, he made his debut for their Under-19 team.

Playing for Red Bull Salzburg

Before the 2018–19 season, Karim joined the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. He signed a three-year contract with them. Right away, he was loaned to their partner club, FC Liefering. This helped him get more playing time.

He made his debut in the 2. Liga on September 1, 2018. On December 1, 2020, he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League. This was a big moment for him. It happened in a 3–1 win against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Later that month, on February 15, he scored the only goal in a 1–0 victory. This important goal was against Chelsea in the Champions League. On March 30, 2024, he scored the first goal in a 2–0 win against Bayern Munich. This was a special win for Dortmund. It was their first victory in "Der Klassiker" (the big match against Bayern) since 2019. It was also their first win at Bayern's home stadium in 10 years.

On October 1, 2024, Karim scored his first hat-trick in the Champions League. He scored three goals in a 7–1 home win against Celtic. He became only the third player in Dortmund's history to score a Champions League hat-trick.
