Kate Bedingfield (born October 29, 1981) is an American political expert. She helped lead communications for the White House during the Joe Biden presidency from 2021 to 2023. Before that, she was a top helper for Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. She also worked as a communications director when Biden was Vice President under Barack Obama.

Early Life and Education
Kate Bedingfield was born on October 29, 1981. She grew up in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Her parents are Dana H. and Sid E. Bedingfield. Her father was a journalism professor and worked for CNN. Her mother is a social media expert.
Kate went to Sandy Springs Middle School. She later graduated from Riverwood High School. She then earned her college degree from the University of Virginia.
Her Career in Politics
Kate Bedingfield started her career in politics by working on campaigns. She was a spokesperson for John Edwards during his 2008 presidential campaign. She also managed communications for Jeanne Shaheen's Senate campaign in 2008.
In 2015, Kate became the communications director for then-Vice President Joe Biden. She had two other important jobs in the Obama administration. She was the director of response and a deputy director for media affairs.
Kate Bedingfield was a deputy campaign manager for the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign. Because of her important work, Fortune magazine named her one of the most influential people under 40 in government and politics.
Working with President Biden
In November 2020, Kate Bedingfield was chosen to be the White House Communications Director. This means she was in charge of how the White House shared its messages with the public. She held this role for the Biden administration.
In July 2022, she decided to stay in her job after first saying she would leave. Then, in February 2023, Kate announced she would leave the administration at the end of that month. Ben LaBolt took over her position.
Personal Life
Kate Bedingfield married David Kelley Kieve on January 12, 2013. Their wedding was in Washington, D.C. Kate and David have two children together. David Kieve is currently the President of the Environmental Defense Action Fund.
