Katherine Elizabeth Upton (born June 10, 1992), known as Kate Upton, is an American model and actress. She became famous for appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was even the main model on the cover of this magazine in 2012, 2013, and 2017.

Kate Upton also appeared on the special 100th-anniversary cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Besides modeling, she has acted in movies like Tower Heist (2011), The Other Woman (2014), and The Layover (2017).

Early Life and Family

Kate Upton was born in St. Joseph, Michigan. Her mother, Shelley, was a champion tennis player in Texas. Her father, Jeff, was an athletics director at a high school. Kate's uncle, Fred Upton, is a politician who works in the U.S. government. Her great-grandfather, Frederick Upton, helped start the famous company Whirlpool Corporation, which makes home appliances.

In 1999, Kate and her family moved to Melbourne, Florida. She went to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy there. When she was young, Kate loved horses and was a skilled equestrian (horse rider). She competed at a national level with her horse, Roanie. She won several awards, including three APHA Reserve World Championships. This means she placed second in different horse riding events. She also finished third overall in the APHA youth Top Twenty. With another horse named Colby, she won more awards in 2009.

Kate Upton started her modeling career in 2008. She attended a casting call in Miami for Elite Model Management and was signed that very day. Later, she moved to New York City and signed with IMG Models.

She first modeled clothes for brands like Garage and Dooney & Bourke. From 2010 to 2011, she was the face of Guess clothing. In 2011, Kate appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was featured in the body paint section and was named "Rookie of the Year" for that issue. After that, she modeled for Beach Bunny Swimwear and appeared in magazines like Complex and Esquire.

In April 2011, a video of Kate doing the dougie hip-hop dance at a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game became very popular online. This helped her become even more well-known. In April 2012, another video of her doing the "Cat Daddy" dance also went viral.

Kate Upton made her acting debut in the 2011 film Tower Heist. She played Mr. Hightower's mistress in a small role. She also appeared as Sister Bernice in The Three Stooges in 2012.

In April 2014, she starred with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in the comedy The Other Woman. She played Amber, one of the main character's mistresses. In 2017, Kate starred with Alexandra Daddario in The Layover. This was a road trip comedy where two best friends fight over the same man.
