Katie Derham (born on June 18, 1970) is a well-known British journalist and TV presenter. She has worked on many popular shows for both television and radio. She is especially known for presenting classical music programs and for her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

Early Life and School
Katie Derham was born in Canterbury, Kent, England, on June 18, 1970. Her mother, Margaret, was a teacher, and her father, John, was a chemist. When Katie was very young, her family moved to Cheshire, and she grew up in a town called Wilmslow.
For her schooling, Katie went to a primary school in Sandbach. Later, she attended Cheadle Hulme School. After that, she studied economics at Magdalene College, Cambridge, which is part of the famous University of Cambridge.
Her Career in Broadcasting
Starting at the BBC (1995–1998)
Katie Derham began her career in broadcasting at the BBC. She started as a researcher for a radio show called Money Box on BBC Radio 4. In 1995, she won an award for her work on another radio show, Moneycheck, on BBC Radio Five Live.
In 1996, Katie moved to BBC television. She worked as a reporter, covering stories about consumer issues. She also reported for the popular movie review show, Film....
Working at ITN (1998–2010)
In 1998, Katie joined ITN, which produces news for ITV. She became the Media and Arts Editor for ITV News. At just 27 years old, she was one of the youngest newscasters on British national television.
Later, in 2004, Katie became the main female presenter for the ITV Lunchtime News. She also sometimes presented the ITV Evening News and the ITV News at Ten. She also helped present London Tonight, a local news program for London. Katie left ITV News in June 2010.
Back to the BBC (2010 onwards)
In 2010, Katie Derham returned to the BBC. She started focusing more on arts and culture. She became a main presenter for the famous classical music festival, the Proms, appearing on BBC Two, BBC Four, and BBC Radio 3.
Katie also presents programs on BBC Radio 3, including Afternoon on 3 and Breakfast. She has also presented shows on BBC Radio 4.
Strictly Come Dancing
In 2015, Katie Derham took part in the popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing. She was partnered with professional dancer Anton Du Beke. They did very well in the competition. In one week, they even got the highest score! They made it all the way to the final, finishing in fourth place.
In 2017, Katie returned for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special. She danced with Brendan Cole and they won the special event!
Other BBC Work
Katie has continued to present many arts programs. In 2016, she presented a documentary called The Girl from Ipanema for BBC Four. In 2017, she presented the coverage of the Last Night of the Proms on BBC Two and BBC One. Since 2017, she has also been a presenter on In Tune on BBC Radio 3.
Other Projects
Katie Derham has also hosted the Classic Brit Awards ceremony several times, from 2001 to 2004. In 2008, she appeared in a BBC Two show called Maestro, where she learned how to conduct an orchestra. She also appeared in a show called First Love in 2010, where she went back to playing the violin, which she had done when she was younger.
Personal Life
Katie Derham is married to John Vincent, who is a restaurateur. They got married in 1999 and have two daughters. They live in Horsted Keynes, which is near Haywards Heath in Sussex. Katie also enjoys playing the violin.
