Brendan Cole is a famous dancer from New Zealand, born on April 23, 1976. He is especially good at Latin American dancing. He became very well-known for being a professional dancer on the popular BBC One TV show, Strictly Come Dancing. He was part of the show from 2004 to 2017. From 2005 to 2009, he was also a judge on the New Zealand version of the show, Dancing with the Stars.

Brendan Cole's Early Life and Career

Brendan Cole was born in 1976 in Christchurch, New Zealand. He started learning to dance when he was just six years old, along with his brother and sister. As a child, he won many awards, becoming the Juvenile, Junior, and Youth Champion of New Zealand.

When he was eighteen, Brendan moved to the United Kingdom. There, he continued to study different dance styles like the pasodoble, ballroom dancing, and ballet. Before becoming a full-time professional dancer, he worked as a builder and roof layer, having left school at 17.

Dancing with Camilla Dallerup

Brendan danced with Camilla Dallerup for many years. They competed together as amateur dancers from 1996 to 1999, and then as professionals from 2002 to 2004. Even though Camilla was born in Denmark, they competed in Latin dance for New Zealand for seven years.

They won several important competitions:

  • In 2002, they won the Professional Latin New Zealand National Championships in Auckland.
  • In 2003, they won the Professional Latin Universal Open in Frimley Green, England.
  • They also won the BATD English Championships in Watford in 2003.
  • The same year, they won the New Zealand Closed National Championships in Wellington.
  • They also won the Taiwan International competition in Taipei.

Brendan's Other TV Appearances

In 2004, Brendan had his first acting role in a movie called Everything to Dance for. He also appeared on other TV shows. In 2006, he was a runner-up on ITV's Love Island. That same year, he was a guest judge on Britain's Next Top Model, where he taught the contestants ballroom dancing.

In January 2007, Brendan was a celebrity contestant on the BBC show Just the Two of Us, where he came in second place with his singing partner, Beverley Knight. He also represented the United Kingdom in the first Eurovision Dance Contest in September 2007, dancing with Camilla Dallerup.

In 2010, he was a guest team captain on the show What Do Kids Know?. In 2019, he took part in Pilgrimage: Road to Rome. In October 2019, he competed in The X Factor: Celebrity with Jeremy Edwards. Most recently, in 2022, he was a contestant on Dancing on Ice and finished in second place.

In 2010, Brendan Cole married Zoe Hobbs, who is a British model. They have two children. Their daughter, Aurelia, was born on Christmas Day in 2012. In March 2018, their son Danté was born. The family lives in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England.
