Kebu Omar Stewart, born on December 19, 1973, is an American basketball coach and former player. He used to play in the NBA. He also played basketball in many different countries around the world.

Kebu Stewart's Early Career
High School Basketball Star
Kebu Stewart was a fantastic high school basketball player. He played at a very strong basketball school called Oak Hill Academy. Later, he played at Our Saviour Lutheran in the Bronx. During the 1991–92 season, he scored almost 36 points in every game. He was even named an All-American, which means he was one of the best players in the country.
College Basketball Journey
Stewart planned to play college basketball at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). However, he could not play his first year because of his grades. This is called being "academically ineligible." He then "redshirted," which means he practiced with the team but did not play in games.
He finally played for the Runnin' Rebels during the 1993–94 season. Even though he could not play until January, he was still amazing. He became the first freshman ever to win the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year award. He averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds per game.
After the next season, Stewart had some disagreements with the coaches. He was suspended from the team. He then moved to a different school, Cal State Bakersfield. This school was in Division II, a different level of college sports.
Success at Cal State Bakersfield
At Cal State Bakersfield, Stewart continued to shine. In his senior year, he was named the Division II Player of the Year. He also won the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year award. He helped his team win the NCAA Division II national championship. During the 1996–97 season, he was the best rebounder in Division II. He grabbed 13.4 rebounds per game.
Kebu Stewart's Professional Career
Playing in the NBA
In 1997, the Philadelphia 76ers picked Kebu Stewart in the second round of the 1997 NBA draft. He played 15 games for them during the 1997–98 NBA season. In those games, he averaged 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds. After his time in the NBA, he played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. This team was part of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, he was chosen for the All-CBA First Team.
Playing Around the World
Kebu Stewart also had a long career playing basketball in many different countries.
- He started playing overseas in Israel for Hapoel Jerusalem in the 2000–01 season.
- Then, he played in Russia for Avtodor Saratov and UNICS from 2001 to 2003.
- He also played a few games in Poland for Prokom Trefl Sopot and in Spain for Adecco Estudiantes.
- In late 2003, he joined NIS Vojvodina in Serbia and Montenegro. He played there for two seasons.
- After that, he moved to Italy and played for Vertical Vision Cantù during the 2005–06 season.
- In the 2006–07 season, he played for the Seoul SK Knights in South Korea and Crvena zvezda in Serbia.
- His last team was Barons/LMT Rīga in Latvia during the 2007–08 season. He left that team partway through the season.
Kebu Stewart's Coaching Career
After his playing career, Kebu Stewart became a basketball coach. Today, he works as an assistant basketball coach. He coaches for Occidental College, which is a college in Los Angeles, California. Occidental College is part of NCAA Division III sports.
