Kebu Omar Stewart, born on December 19, 1973, is an American basketball coach and former player. He played in the NBA, which is the top basketball league in the United States. He also had a long career playing basketball in many different countries around the world.

Kebu Stewart's Basketball Journey

High School and College Days

Kebu Stewart was a fantastic high school basketball player. He played at Our Saviour Lutheran in the Bronx, New York. During the 1991-92 season, he scored almost 36 points per game! This amazing performance earned him special recognition as an All-American.

Stewart first planned to play college basketball at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He played for the Runnin' Rebels in the 1993-94 season. Even though he couldn't play until January, he was named the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He was the first freshman ever to win this award, averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds per game.

Later, Stewart moved to Cal State Bakersfield, a Division II school. There, he became the Division II Player of the Year in 1997. He also led his team to win the NCAA Division II national championship. That same year, he was the best rebounder in Division II, grabbing 13.4 rebounds per game.

Playing Professional Basketball

In 1997, Kebu Stewart was chosen by the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA draft. He played 15 games for them during the 1997–98 NBA season. After his time in the NBA, he played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) from 1998 to 2000. He was even named to the All-CBA First Team in 2000.

Stewart then started playing basketball overseas, which means in other countries. His international career began in Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem in the 2000-01 season. He also played in Russia for teams like Avtodor Saratov and UNICS.

He played a few games in Poland for Prokom Trefl Sopot and in Spain for Adecco Estudiantes. Later, he joined NIS Vojvodina in Serbia and Montenegro. After two seasons there, he moved to Italy to play for Vertical Vision Cantù in 2005-06.

In the 2006-07 season, he played in South Korea for the Seoul SK Knights and then for Crvena zvezda in Serbia. His last team was Barons/LMT Rīga in Latvia during the 2007-08 season.

Coaching Career Today

Today, Kebu Stewart is an assistant basketball coach. He works for Occidental College, which is an NCAA Division III college located in Los Angeles, California. He helps young college players improve their basketball skills.
