Keisha White is a talented singer from England. She is known for her R&B, pop, and soul music. She has released two albums: Seventeen (in 2005) and Out of My Hands (in 2006). Many people know her best for her song "Someday." This song was the theme for the popular CBBC TV shows The Story of Tracy Beaker (from 2002 to 2005) and My Mum Tracy Beaker (in 2021).

Early Life and Music Start

Keisha White was born in London, England. She went to Enfield County School for girls. While studying at Susi Earnshaw Theatre School in Barnet, she started her music career. Another student there, Jay Asforis, later became famous in S Club 8.

When Keisha was 14, she got a big chance. She was asked to sing for music executives at Warner Bros. Records. She sang "You'll Lose a Good Thing" by Aretha Franklin without any music. The record company was very impressed. They signed her to a music deal. This was the first song Keisha ever sang live for an audience. At 15, she worked with famous artists like Paul Oakenfold.

First Songs and TV Fame

Keisha White has traveled and performed in many countries. These include places in Africa, Europe, and the United States. She worked with many talented people on her music. These included producers like Keith Harris and Theron Feemster.

On March 15, 2004, when she was 17, Keisha released her first single. It was called "Watcha Gonna Do." This happened three years after she signed her record deal. Before that, she had supported the R&B group Mis-Teeq on their tour.

Keisha also sang the theme song for the CBBC show The Story of Tracy Beaker. This song was called "Someday." It was included as the B-side to her first single. She even had a small role in the TV movie Tracy Beaker: The Movie of Me in February 2004.

Her First Album: Seventeen

After "Watcha Gonna Do," Keisha released her second single in 2005. It was called "Don't Care Who Knows" and featured U.S. rapper Cassidy. This song reached number 29 in the UK Singles Chart.

Her first album, Seventeen, came out on March 7, 2005. Her third single, "Don't Fool a Woman in Love," was released on May 23, 2005. After these songs, Keisha took a break. She also supported singer Beverley Knight at Rochester Castle.

In 2006, Keisha returned with a new single. Her friend Alicia Keys reportedly influenced the choice. It was a new version of Joan Armatrading's song "The Weakness in Me." This song was released on February 27, 2006. It became Keisha's biggest hit, reaching number 17 in the UK Singles Chart. Because a new version of Seventeen was planned, her record label stopped selling the first album. This made the original album quite rare.

Her Second Album: Out of My Hands

On June 19, 2006, Keisha released "Don't Mistake Me." This was the second single from her second album. The song did well on UK radio, but only reached number 48 in the UK Singles Chart. In 2006, the song was featured in an episode of the TV show Grey's Anatomy.

Keisha's second album, Out of My Hands, was released on July 3, 2006. Half of the songs on this album were from Seventeen, and the other half were new. The album also included "The Weakness in Me." It reached number 55 in the UK Albums Chart.

The third single from the album was "I Choose Life." This was a version of a Celine Dion song. It was released on September 18, 2006, and reached number 63 in the UK chart.

Keisha also supported ByteNight, a charity event. This event raised money to help young people who are homeless. She was nominated for Best UK Female at the 2006 MOBO Awards. However, Corinne Bailey Rae won that award.

Recent Work

Out of My Hands was Keisha White's most recent studio album for a while. In 2010, she released a new song called "Wrong N Right."

On March 31, 2012, Keisha performed a new single, "Butterflies." This single included a remix by Matt "Jam" Lamont. He was known for remixing the Mis-Teeq song "Why."

A famous fan of Keisha White is the grime artist Stormzy. In 2019, he shared that "The Weakness in Me" is one of his favorite songs. He also used a part of her song "Someday" in his track "Superheroes." Stormzy spoke about "Someday" on BBC Radio 1. He said it was "one of the most prominent pieces of black British music, in terms of R&B."

In 2020, a new version of "Someday" was recorded. This was for the TV show My Mum Tracy Beaker, where the song is also used. On March 26, 2021, the new "Someday" was released as a single. It was the first time the song was released on its own. Before, it was only available as the B-side to "Watcha Gonna Do." A remix by Oliver Nelson was released on April 2, 2021.
