Arib went to the University of Amsterdam. There, she studied sociology, which is the study of how people live in groups. Before she became a politician, she worked as a civil servant, a teacher, and a social worker.
Political Career
Khadija Arib has been an important member of the Labour Party (called Partij van de Arbeid in Dutch). She served in the Dutch Parliament for many years. She was a Member of Parliament from 1998 to 2006, and again from 2007 to 2022.

Becoming Speaker of the House
In 2012, Arib tried to become the Speaker of the House but was not chosen. Instead, she became the first deputy speaker. She was elected as Speaker on 13 January 2016. She had been serving as acting Speaker since December 2015. In 2017, she was re-elected as Speaker, as she was the only candidate.

Investigation and Current Role
