Kim Delaney's Acting Career Beginnings

Kim Delaney first became famous for playing the innocent teenager Jenny Gardner Nelson on the `soap opera` `All My Children`. This was her very first acting job. Even years later, people would remember her as Jenny.

After leaving `All My Children`, Kim started acting in `feature films`. In 1985, she was in `That Was Then... This Is Now` with Emilio Estevez. This movie was based on a book by S. E. Hinton. In 1995, Kim started playing Detective Diane Russell on `NYPD Blue`. She was only supposed to be in four episodes at first. In 2001, the producer of `NYPD Blue`, Steven Bochco, chose Kim for the main role in a new TV series called `Philly`. Because of this, her character was written out of `NYPD Blue`. Even though critics liked `Philly`, the show only lasted one season.

In 2002, Kim Delaney was the main female lead in the new CBS drama series `CSI: Miami`. This show was a spin-off from the popular `CSI: Crime Scene Investigation`. She left the series after just 10 episodes.
