Kinsey is a town in Houston County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Dothan area. The town was first set up and became official in February 1893. At that time, it was located in Henry County.

In 1903, Kinsey became part of the newly formed Houston County. It was made an official town again in August 1957. In 2010, about 2,198 people lived there. By 2020, the population had grown slightly to 2,203.

Kinsey's Story

Kinsey got its name from an early postmaster. Her name was Eliza Kinsey. A postmaster is someone in charge of a post office.

Kinsey is located in the northern part of Houston County. It is at coordinates 31.291688 degrees north and 85.345487 degrees west.

The city of Dothan borders Kinsey to the south and west. To the southeast, you'll find the town of Webb. North of Kinsey is the city of Headland, which is in Henry County.

U.S. Route 431 runs through the western side of Kinsey. This road goes north about 21 miles to Abbeville. It also goes southwest about 7 miles to Dothan.
