Kirsten Holmstedt was born and grew up in Mystic, Connecticut, USA. She studied journalism at Drake University, earning her first college degree in 1985. Later, in 2006, she earned another advanced degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Career as a Writer
Besides her two important books about women in the military, Kirsten Holmstedt has also written many other articles on military topics. She used to work as a public information officer (someone who shares information with the public) for Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She left that job to become a full-time freelance writer, which means she writes for different clients and publications on her own.
