Knapp Creek is a small stream in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. It is a tributary of the Greenbrier River, which means it flows into the Greenbrier River.

The creek starts high up on Allegheny Mountain, east of a place called Frost. From its beginning, Knapp Creek gently flows downhill through pretty farmland.

It then meets another stream called Laurel Creek at Minnehaha Springs. After that, Knapp Creek continues its journey through Huntersville. Finally, about six miles past Huntersville, it joins the larger Greenbrier River near Marlinton.

Who Was Knapp Creek Named After?

Knapp Creek got its name from an early settler in the area. His name was Knapp Gregory. He was one of the first people to live in that region.

Knapp Creek in Stories

The forests around Knapp Creek have been part of local stories. A book called Riders of the Flood by W. E. Blackhurst talks about the forest life around the creek a long time ago.

This book was even turned into a play. It was performed at an outdoor theater in Ronceverte. In the story, a character named Mrs. Knapp, who was part of the family the creek is named after, helps a young traveler.
