Kurt Roland "Kurre" Hamrin (born 19 November 1934 – died 4 February 2024) was a famous Swedish footballer. He played as a winger, which is a player who runs down the sides of the field. Kurt started his career in Sweden with AIK. Later, he became a star in Italy, playing for several top clubs.
His most famous time was with Fiorentina. He played there for nine years, winning two Coppa Italia titles and a Cup Winners' Cup. He scored over 200 goals for Fiorentina, making him their all-time top scorer. He also played for AC Milan, where he won a Serie A title and the European Cup. Kurt Hamrin is one of the top goal scorers in Italian Serie A history, with 190 goals.
Kurt also played for the Swedish national team. He helped them reach the 1958 FIFA World Cup final when the tournament was held in Sweden. Many people consider him one of the greatest Swedish footballers ever. He is also seen as one of Fiorentina's best players of all time.

Playing for Clubs
Kurt Hamrin began his football journey with AIK in Sweden in the 1952–53 season. He quickly showed his talent.
In 1956, he moved to Italy to play for Juventus. He played 23 games and scored eight goals in his first season. After that, he joined Padova for one season. There, he scored an impressive 20 goals in 30 games.
His most important move was to Fiorentina in 1958. He stayed there for nine years until 1967. During this time, he played 289 Serie A games and scored 150 goals. With Fiorentina, he won the Coppa Italia twice, in 1961 and 1966. He also helped them win the 1960–61 European Cup Winners' Cup. In that competition, he was the top scorer with six goals. He even scored a goal in the final against Rangers. In 1966, he won the Mitropa Cup with Fiorentina. Kurt Hamrin is still known as Fiorentina's all-time top goal scorer, with 208 goals in total.
In 1967, he joined AC Milan. He played there for two seasons and had great success. In 1968, Milan won the league title. Kurt scored both goals in the 1968 European Cup Winners' Cup final when Milan beat Hamburg 2–0. The next season, his team won the biggest European club trophy, the European Cup.
His last Italian club was Napoli, which he joined in 1969. In 1971, Kurt returned to Sweden. He played one final season for IFK Stockholm before retiring from football in 1972.
Playing for Sweden
Kurt Hamrin played for the Swedish national team 32 times. He scored 17 goals between 1953 and 1965.
Many Swedes remember him for his amazing goal against West Germany. This happened in the semi-finals of the 1958 FIFA World Cup. The World Cup was held in Sweden that year. His goal helped Sweden win the match 3–1. This victory meant Sweden reached the final against Brazil. Although Sweden lost the final 5–2, Kurt Hamrin's performance was a highlight.
Life After Football
After he stopped playing football, Kurt Hamrin moved to Florence, Italy, with his family. He continued to be involved in football. From 1998 to 2008, he worked as a scout for AC Milan. A scout helps find new talented players for a team.
Kurt Hamrin passed away on 4 February 2024, at the age of 89. He was the last player still alive from either the Swedish or Brazilian teams that played in the 1958 FIFA World Cup final.
