History of La Palma
La Palma became an official city on October 26, 1955. When it was first created, its name was Dairyland. This was because it was one of three "dairy cities" in the area. The other two were Dairy Valley (now Cerritos) and Dairy City (now Cypress).
In 1965, the dairy farms moved to other places. So, the city changed its name to La Palma. This new name honors the area's Spanish history. It also comes from La Palma Avenue, a main street in the city.
