Lac des Arcs is a beautiful lake located in Alberta, Canada. It's a natural part of the famous Bow River. This lake is found within the amazing Alberta's Rockies mountain range.

Where is Lac des Arcs?

Lac des Arcs is situated in a region of Alberta known as Bighorn No. 8. It's nestled right within the stunning Canadian Rockies. The small community, or hamlet, also named Lac des Arcs, sits on the southeastern shore of the lake.

What's around the lake?

On the northern side of the lake, you'll find the Lafarge Exshaw Plant. This plant is next to a limestone quarry, which is a place where rocks are dug out of the ground.

Major transportation routes run near the lake. The Trans-Canada Highway follows the southern shore. On the northern shore, you can see the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway and Highway 1A.

The Picnic Island

Lac des Arcs is also known for a special little island. This tiny island has nothing but a picnic bench on it! It's quite a unique sight and can be seen from the Trans-Canada Highway.
