A Look at Ladir's Past

Ladir has a long history! It was first mentioned way back around the year 850. Back then, it was known as Leitura.

Where Ladir is Located

Before it joined with other towns, Ladir covered about 7.2 square kilometers (2.8 square miles). About half of its land (50.3%) was used for farming. A big part (42.2%) was covered by forests. The rest of the land included buildings, roads, rivers, or mountains.

Ladir is located high up on the northern side of an area called "Gruob," also known as the Ilanz area. It includes the main village of Ladir. It also has a special mountain settlement called Dadens da Ladir. This settlement is an exclave, meaning it's a part of Ladir that is separate from the main village.

The Senda Sursilvana is a long hiking trail that goes through Ladir. It follows the northern side of the Vorderrhein river.
