Lake Ann is a small village in Benzie County, Michigan. It is part of Almira Township. The village is located about 10 miles (16 km) west of Traverse City. In 2020, the population of Lake Ann was 273 people.

History of Lake Ann
The first family to settle near Lake Ann was the Wheelock family. They named the lake after Addison P. Wheelock's wife, Ann.
Village Development
Lake Ann became an organized community in 1893. It was officially made a village in 1914. The village once had a train station for the Manistee and North-Eastern Railroad, but the tracks are no longer there.
Lake Ann Camp
A Christian summer camp called Lake Ann Camp was started in 1948. It is located just west of the village.
Geography of Lake Ann
The village of Lake Ann covers a total area of about 0.48 square miles (1.24 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The Lake and River
Lake Ann village sits on the northern shore of the lake that shares its name. Lake Ann is a basin that is part of the Platte River. This river flows west and eventually reaches Lake Michigan.
Local Roads
Lake Ann does not have any major state highways passing through it. However, Benzie County has signs for County Roads 610 (Maple Street), 665 (Lake Ann Road), and 667 (Reynolds Road) within the village.

According to the census from 2010, there were 268 people living in Lake Ann. These people lived in 118 households, and 76 of these were families.
Most of the people in the village (95.1%) were White. A small number were African American (0.4%) or Native American (1.5%). About 0.4% were Hispanic or Latino.
About 22% of households had children under 18 living with them. Most households (59.3%) were married couples. The average household had 2.27 people, and the average family had 2.80 people.
The average age of people in the village was 48.2 years old. About 16.8% of residents were under 18. About 18.7% were 65 years or older. The population was almost evenly split between males (48.1%) and females (51.9%).
Education in Lake Ann
The Lake Ann area is served by two different school districts. These are the Benzie Central Schools and Traverse City Area Public Schools districts.
Local Schools
Lake Ann Elementary School is the closest public elementary school. It is part of the Benzie Central Schools district. However, the closest public high school is Traverse City West Senior High School. This high school is part of the Traverse City Area Public Schools district.
