Lake Conasauga is a beautiful, small lake located high up in the mountains of northern Georgia, United States. It's part of the Chattahoochee National Forest. At 3,150 feet (about 960 meters) above sea level, it's the highest lake in Georgia! The lake covers about 19 acres (around 7.7 hectares).
It was built a long time ago, in 1940, by a group called the Civilian Conservation Corps. This was a program during the Great Depression that helped young men find work building parks and other public projects. The name "Conasauga" comes from the Cherokee language and means "grass."
The U.S. Forest Service manages the Lake Conasauga campground. The area is usually open from mid-April until late October, depending on the weather.
