Exploring Lake Don Pedro's Geography
This community is in the very northwest part of Mariposa County. It shares borders with Tuolumne County to the north and west. To the southwest, it borders Merced County. The eastern edge of Lake Don Pedro reaches the shores of Lake McClure. This lake is a large reservoir built on the Merced River.
The area of Lake Don Pedro covers about 19.7 square miles (51 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 18.4 square miles (47.7 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 1.3 square miles (3.4 square kilometers), is water. This means about 6.53% of the area is covered by water.
A road called California State Route 132 goes through the northern parts of Lake Don Pedro. If you drive east on this road, you'll reach Coulterville in about 13 miles (21 km). Driving west for about 8 miles (13 km) will take you to La Grange. A larger city, Modesto, is about 40 miles (64 km) to the west.
