Langley, British Columbia (district municipality) facts for kids
The Township of Langley is a community located in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It's just east of the city of Surrey and west of Abbotsford. This area is part of Metro Vancouver, a large region that includes many cities and towns.
Langley started as Fort Langley, a trading post built in 1827. Later, the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush in 1858 brought many new people to the area. The Township of Langley officially became a municipality on April 26, 1873.
Today, the Langley Events Centre is a popular spot for sports. The Vancouver Stealth, a professional lacrosse team, used to play there.
