Moving from the City
Many families moved to Langley from older parts of Manchester. Their old homes were often in areas that needed to be rebuilt. This process was called slum clearance. It meant replacing old, unsafe houses with new, modern ones. Langley offered these families new, better places to live.
Growing Population
When people moved to Langley, the area grew a lot. The population eventually reached about 25,000 people. This number was so large that it actually doubled the population of nearby Middleton.
