Larry Frank Cedar (born March 6, 1955) is an American actor who works in film, television, and as a voice artist. He is perhaps best known for being one of the main actors on Square One TV, a popular math show from the Children's Television Workshop that aired on PBS from 1987 to 1994. He also played Max, a character in commercials for Kroger, and has lent his voice to many cartoons and video games.

Life and Career Highlights

Larry Cedar's acting journey began after he was accepted into law school. He decided to try out for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Theater program at UCLA instead, and he got in! He graduated in 1978. While at UCLA, he won an award for Best Actor, which led to a special contract with Universal Studios.

He soon started appearing in TV movies, many TV episodes, and feature films. One of his notable early roles was starring alongside Rebecca De Mornay in the movie Feds. He also appeared as a scary creature in Twilight Zone: The Movie, directed by George Miller, where he acted with John Lithgow.

Larry Cedar spent six seasons, or years, working on the award-winning PBS series Square One TV in New York. This show helped kids learn about math in a fun way. Later, he starred in 40 episodes of the Fox TV show A.J.'s Time Travelers.

He is also a very experienced stage actor. He has performed in many plays, including a one-man show called Billy Bishop Goes to War. He has won awards for his stage performances, including an L.A. Theater Alliance Ovation Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role in She Loves Me. He also played Hoagy Carmichael in a play and acted with Lea Thompson in They're Playing Our Song.

In addition to his live-action roles, Larry Cedar has done a lot of voice-over work. You might have heard his voice in hundreds of commercials, cartoon series, and video games! He also appeared in the movie The Crazies in 2010. From 2011 to 2012, he played Cornelius Hawthorne, the father of Pierce Hawthorne (played by Chevy Chase), in two episodes of the TV series Community.

Larry Cedar is still very active in the theater world in Los Angeles. In 2013, he starred in a play called King Lear. He also helped create a play for the Hollywood Fringe Festival based on the works of the famous writer George Orwell, including Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four.
