The Las Vegas Walk of Stars is a special sidewalk in Las Vegas, Nevada. It honors famous people who have helped make Las Vegas a well-known place. You can find these stars along a 4-mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard. This includes both sides of the street, between Sahara Avenue and Russell Boulevard.
The idea for the Walk of Stars started in October 2004. The very first person to get a star was singer Wayne Newton on October 26, 2004. In 2005, other famous people like Frank Marino, Liberace, Rich Little, Line Renaud, and Dick Jensen also received stars.
In 2010, Frank Marino made history by becoming the first entertainer to get a star twice! Also in 2010, music stars Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan were the first couple to share a single star. A year later, in 2011, Mexican singer Jenni Rivera and baseball player Esteban Loaiza became the second couple to be honored. On February 17, 2008, Tony Sacca, a singer and TV host, became the 23rd person to receive a star.
What Happened to Some Stars?
In March 2018, something unexpected happened. About 39 of the 82 stars on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars were removed. It seems they were taken out during the installation of security poles along the Las Vegas Strip. Officials said that these stars could not be moved safely to a new spot.
Some of the stars that were removed belonged to very famous people. These included Wayne Newton, Liberace, Rich Little, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Elvis Presley.
