Lauwil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It's found in the Waldenburg district within the canton of Basel-Country.

History of Lauwil
Lauwil is an old place! It was first written about in documents from 1194. Back then, its name was Luiwilre.
Geography of Lauwil
Lauwil covers an area of about 7.27 square kilometers (2.81 sq mi). Imagine a square about 2.7 km (1.7 mi) on each side!
A big part of this area, almost half (47.7%), is used for farming. Another large part (49.5%) is covered by forests. Only a small bit (2.5%) has buildings or roads. A tiny amount (0.3%) is rivers or lakes.
Lauwil is nestled in a valley within the Jura Mountains. It sits at an elevation of about 637 meters (2,090 ft) above sea level. The municipality includes the main village of Lauwil and a smaller area called Bez.
