Leon is a small town located in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. It sits right next to the Kanawha River. In 2020, about 137 people lived there. Leon is part of the larger Point Pleasant area, which includes parts of West Virginia and Ohio.

The Name of Leon
Leon was once known by a different name: 'Cologne'. In 1880, its name was changed to Leon. However, no one is quite sure where the name 'Leon' came from.
Leon's History
An important building in Leon is the Gen. John McCausland House. This historic house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This means it is a special place recognized for its history. The area around it that is considered historic was made larger in 2000.
