Les Agettes was once a municipality (a type of town or local government area) in the Hérens district. It was located in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. On January 1, 2017, Les Agettes joined with the larger city of Sion. So, it's no longer a separate municipality.

History of Les Agettes
Les Agettes was first mentioned in old records way back in 1190. At that time, it was called Agietes.
Exploring the Geography of Les Agettes
In 2009, Les Agettes covered an area of about 5.1 square kilometers (2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 67.8%, was covered in forests. Another 20% was used for farming. About 10.8% of the land had buildings or roads on it.
The former municipality was located on the hills south of Sion. It was also above the Rhone valley. Les Agettes included three small villages: Crête-à-l'Œil, La Vernaz, and Les Agettes itself. These villages were located at different heights, from about 980 to 1200 meters (3,215 to 3,937 feet) above sea level. There were also scattered areas for grazing animals in the mountains. A vacation spot called Mayens de l'Ours was built there in 1982.
Understanding the Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Les Agettes has a special design. It is split down the middle. On one side, there is a red crosier (a staff carried by a bishop) and a red sword pointing downwards.
