Les Brenets was once a small town, also known as a municipality, located in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It was a special place known for its beautiful nature. On January 1, 2021, Les Brenets joined with the nearby town of Le Locle to become one larger municipality.

The first time Les Brenets was ever written about was way back in 1325. It was called chiez le Bruignet then. This shows that people have lived and worked in this area for a very long time.

Les Brenets covered an area of about 11.5 square kilometers (about 4.4 square miles). A big part of this land, almost half, was covered by forests. Another large part was used for farming.
A smaller portion of the land had buildings and roads. There were also rivers and lakes, making up about 3.7% of the area. The rest was land that wasn't used for anything.
Les Brenets was located near Le Locle, on the northwestern side of the Jura Mountains. The Doubs river flows through the area and even forms part of the border with France. A beautiful lake called Lac des Brenets is also found here, right on the Doubs river.
