The Lincoln family was an American family with roots in England. It includes all the children and grandchildren of Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln.
There were ten known direct descendants of Abraham Lincoln. The direct family line is thought to have ended when Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith passed away in 1985. He did not have any children.
However, the Lincoln family still has many other relatives alive today. These relatives share common ancestors with the former president. For example, actors George Clooney and Tom Hanks are related to Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln. Also, activist Konrad Juengling is a descendant of Lincoln's great-grandfather, John Lincoln. Actor Ben Miller also found a family link to the Lincolns.

Early Roots in England
The Lincoln family's story begins in Hingham, Norfolk, England. Samuel Lincoln's father, Edward Lincoln, was born around 1575. He lived his whole life in England. Edward was the only son of Richard Lincoln.
First Generation in America
The Lincoln family first came to America in 1637. This was when Samuel Lincoln (1622–1690) sailed from England. He arrived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony on a ship called John & Dorothy. Samuel is known as the first important member of the Lincoln family in the United States.
Seventh Generation: Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865) was a very important person in American history. He was a lawyer and politician. He became the 16th president of the United States, serving from 1861 to 1865.
Abraham Lincoln was born in a small log cabin. This cabin was on a farm near Hodgenville, Kentucky. His parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks. Abraham Lincoln married Mary Ann Todd. They had four sons together: Robert, Edward, Willie, and Tad.
Tenth Generation: Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith
Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith (1904–1985) was a great-grandson of Abraham Lincoln. He was the last direct descendant of the former president. This happened after his sister, Mary, passed away in 1975. Neither Robert nor Mary had any children.
