Linda Thompson's Beliefs
Linda Thompson was known for sharing her ideas about certain events. These ideas often suggested that powerful people or the government were hiding the truth.
Claims About President Clinton
Thompson did not agree with the way Bill Clinton was leading the country as president. In 1994, she helped create a list of 24 people. These people had some connection to Clinton and had died in unusual ways.
This list was sent to leaders in Congress. A former Representative, William E. Dannemeyer, asked for official meetings to discuss these deaths.
Ideas About the Waco Siege
In 1993, Linda Thompson made a videotape called Waco, the Big Lie. This video showed parts of the police action at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. It also shared the history of the group.
The video was shared widely and became quite popular. Thompson often appeared on talk radio shows after its release. Her film questioned what the news was reporting about the Waco event. She claimed the government was hiding what really happened.
Thompson pointed out things that didn't seem to fit in the official story. She also questioned why deadly weapons were used to "rescue" children from their parents.
She also claimed that three agents from the BATF were killed by their own side during the event. She suggested these agents had been bodyguards for President Clinton. Thompson believed their deaths were ordered by Clinton himself.
In 1994, Thompson made another film called Waco II, the Big Lie Continues. In this video, she responded to people who had criticized her first film.
Claims About Government Plans
Thompson made a third film in 1994, called America Under Siege. In this film, she claimed the government was using "black helicopters" against people who loved their country.
She also said that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was setting up "concentration camps." She claimed these places were meant to stop patriotic citizens. Thompson believed this was part of a plan to create a "New World Order." This is a theory about a secret powerful group trying to control the world.
She claimed one of these supposed FEMA camps was the Beech Grove Shops. This is an Amtrak repair facility in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Planned March in Washington
In 1994, Linda Thompson announced a plan for an armed march in Washington, D.C.. She called herself the "Acting Adjutant General" of the "Unorganized Militia of the United States."
She stated that citizens would arrest members of Congress who she felt were not doing their job. She planned to try them for serious crimes in "Citizen's Courts." However, many groups, even those who shared some of her views, spoke out against the march. Thompson later canceled the event.
Later, she was arrested in Indianapolis for blocking the path of the President's cars. She had two guns with her, one hidden and one in her purse. Both guns were legal, and she was not charged with any crime.
Later Life and Death
Linda Thompson passed away in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 10, 2009. Her husband scattered her ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. This was done according to her wishes.
