For a long time, Lippelo was its own independent town. This lasted until 1976. After that year, Lippelo joined with another village called Oppuurs. Together, they became part of the municipality of Sint-Amands. This change helped organize local government better.

The number of people living in Lippelo has changed over the years. In the early 1800s, around 500 people lived here. By the end of the 19th century, this number had grown to almost 700. The population continued to increase in the 20th century. By 1976, when Lippelo joined Sint-Amands, nearly 1,000 people lived in the village. This shows how Lippelo has steadily grown over time.
