LIPTON Teas and Infusions B.V. is a big company based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It makes many kinds of tea and other herbal drinks. The company started in 2021. It was created when Unilever decided to separate its tea business.

Lipton Teas and Infusions is now the largest tea company in the world. It owns famous tea brands like Lipton, PG Tips, and TAZO.

Before it became Lipton Teas and Infusions, this part of Unilever was called Ekaterra. In 2021, a company called CVC Capital Partners bought Ekaterra. The sale was finished in 2022. After that, Ekaterra changed its name to Lipton Teas and Infusions. Unilever still owns the Lipton brands in India, Nepal, and Indonesia. They also still have their ready-to-drink Lipton Iced Tea business with PepsiCo.

The Story of Lipton Teas

The Lipton tea brand got its name from its founder, Sir Thomas Lipton. He began a grocery store business in the United Kingdom in 1871. Over many years, between 1938 and 1972, the big company Unilever bought the Lipton tea business.

Lipton Teas and Infusions became its own company in July 2022. This happened after Unilever sold most of its tea business to CVC Capital Partners.

A month after the sale, the company decided to stop selling its products in Russia. This was because of the situation in the country. A company spokesperson said it was hard to grow their business there.

In February 2024, Lipton Teas and Infusions started a special school in Kenya. It's called the Lipton Tea Innovation & Technology Academy. They created it with the Government of Kenya and the University of Kabianga. This academy teaches people how to grow and harvest tea. It offers different courses, from basic training to advanced degrees.

In May 2024, Lipton Teas and Infusions made an agreement. They decided to sell their tea farms in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The money from this sale will be used to help the tea industry in East Africa.
