Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Adventure tri. and Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna are anime series and films about a group of kids called the DigiDestined (選ばれし子供達, Erabareshi Kodomotachi). These children are chosen to protect the Digital World, a special world where digital monsters live.

Each DigiDestined child has a Digimon partner. They use a device called a Digivice to help their Digimon Digivolve (進化, Shinka). Digivolution is when a Digimon changes into a stronger, more powerful form.

Main Characters

Adventure Protagonists

Tai Kamiya and Agumon

Tai is the brave leader of the DigiDestined. He's also a star player on his school's soccer team. Sometimes, his daring and quick-to-act personality gets him into trouble. But he learns that being a good leader means being kind and understanding. His partner is Agumon, and he has the Crest of Courage (勇気の紋章, Yūki no monshō).

Later, in Digimon Adventure 02, Tai passes on his leadership role to Davis. As an adult, Tai and Agumon become diplomats, working to keep peace between the human and Digital Worlds. Tai even has a son who has a Koromon as his partner.

Agumon is Tai's Digimon partner. He is simple and loyal, always believing that Tai wants what's best for the team. He trusts Tai completely as a friend. Agumon can change into different forms like Botamon (ボタモン) (Baby), Koromon (コロモン) (In-training), Greymon (グレイモン, Gureimon) (Champion), MetalGreymon (メタルグレイモン, Metarugureimon) (Ultimate), and WarGreymon (ウォーグレイモン, Wōgureimon) (Mega). He can also combine with MetalGarurumon to become Omnimon (オメガモン, Omegamon). Agumon also has a special Mega form called Agumon (Bond of Bravery) (アグモン -勇気の絆-, Agumon -Yuki no Kizuna-), which shows the strong bond between him and Tai.

Matt Ishida and Gabumon

Matt is T.K.'s older brother. He lives with his dad in Odaiba. Matt is very careful in the Digital World, especially when it comes to T.K.'s safety. He often argues with Tai because Tai can be reckless. His partner is Gabumon, and he has the Crest of Friendship (友情の紋章, Yūjō no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, Matt starts a band called the Teen-age Wolves. As an adult, Matt and Gabumon become astronauts. Matt marries Sora, and they have two children.

Gabumon is Matt's Digimon partner. He looks like a reptile wearing a wolf pelt. Gabumon is shy but very loyal to Matt. He often tries to help Matt think things through, but he always supports Matt's choices. Gabumon can change into forms like Punimon (プニモン) (Baby), Tsunomon (ツノモン) (In-training), Garurumon (ガルルモン) (Champion), WereGarurumon (ワーガルルモン, Wāgarurumon) (Ultimate), and MetalGarurumon (メタルガルルモン, Metarugarurumon) (Mega). He can also combine with WarGreymon to become Omnimon. Gabumon also has a special Mega form called Gabumon (Bond of Friendship) (ガブモン -友情の絆-, Gabumon -Yujo no Kizuna-), showing the strong bond between him and Matt.

Sora Takenouchi and Biyomon

Sora is Tai's best friend and was also on the soccer team. She is a bit of a tomboy but is very caring, acting like a mother figure to the DigiDestined. She often helps Tai and Matt get along. Her partner is Biyomon, and she has the Crest of Love (愛情の紋章, Aijō no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, Sora starts playing tennis and learning flower arranging from her mom. As an adult, Sora and Biyomon become fashion designers. Sora marries Matt, and they have two children.

Biyomon is Sora's Digimon partner. She can change into bird-like forms that use fire attacks. Biyomon is very open about her feelings and loves Sora deeply. She helps Sora become closer to her mother. Her forms include Nyokimon (ニョキモン) (Baby), Birdramon (バードラモン, Bādoramon) (Champion), Garudamon (ガルダモン) (Ultimate), and Phoenixmon (ホウオウモン, Hōōmon) (Mega).

Izzy Izumi and Tentomon

Izzy is a computer genius who loves to research things on the Internet. He is very smart, but sometimes he gets so focused on his computer that he forgets about what's happening around him. He is polite and respects the other DigiDestined. His partner is Tentomon, and he has the Crest of Knowledge (知識の紋章, Chishiki no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, Izzy continues to help the new DigiDestined with his computer skills. As an adult, Izzy researches ways for the Real and Digital Worlds to connect. He has a daughter.

Tentomon is Izzy's Digimon partner. He looks like a ladybug and speaks in a special dialect. He is very smart and curious, just like Izzy. Tentomon can change into insect-like forms that use electric attacks. He sometimes gets annoyed when Izzy is too busy with his laptop to hang out with friends.

Mimi Tachikawa and Palmon

Mimi is a kind girl from Izzy's class who grew up with wealthy parents. She sometimes tries to avoid responsibility when things get tough. However, people are often charmed by her honest and direct personality. Her partner is Palmon, and she has the Crest of Sincerity (純真の紋章, Junshin no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, Mimi moves to New York City but still visits the Digital World. As an adult, Mimi and Palmon become famous chefs with their own cooking show. She has a son.

Palmon is Mimi's Digimon partner.

Joe Kido and Gomamon

Joe is a very serious student who wants to become a doctor. He studies hard to get into a good university. Since he is the oldest, he feels responsible for everyone's safety. However, he can be unsure of himself, so the group often looks to others for decisions. His partner is Gomamon, and he has the Crest of Reliability (誠実の紋章, Seijitsu no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, Joe continues to study medicine. As an adult, Joe becomes the first doctor in the Digital World. He has a son.

Gomamon is Joe's Digimon partner. He is a seal-like Digimon with a relaxed and easygoing personality. He often tries to get Joe to relax and socialize instead of always studying. Gomamon can change into seal-type forms that use water attacks.

T.K. Takaishi and Patamon

T.K. is Matt's younger brother. He is gentle and usually does what he's told. He looks up to Matt and wants to impress him. T.K. also becomes close to the other DigiDestined, especially Tai. His partner is Patamon, and he has the Crest of Hope (希望の紋章, Kibō no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, T.K. moves to Odaiba and becomes popular at school. He joins the new DigiDestined and gets the Digi-Egg of Hope (希望のデジメンタル, Kibō no dejimentaru). As an adult, T.K. becomes a novelist, writing books about his adventures in the Digital World. He has a son.

Patamon is T.K.'s Digimon partner. He is a small, pudgy Digimon with bat-like wing ears. Because T.K. was very young in Adventure, Patamon was often the last to Digivolve. Patamon can change into angelic forms that use light-based attacks.

Kari Kamiya and Gatomon

Kari is Tai's younger sister. She is a gentle and caring girl who often thinks of others before herself. She couldn't go to camp at first because she was sick, but she was later revealed to be the eighth DigiDestined child. Kari looks up to Tai and is considered T.K.'s equal. Her partner is Gatomon, and she has the Crest of Light (光の紋章, Hikari no monshō).

In Digimon Adventure 02, Kari becomes an energetic and cheerful girl who loves photography. She joins the new DigiDestined and gets the Digi-Egg of Light (光のデジメンタル, Hikari no dejimentaru). As an adult, Kari becomes a kindergarten teacher. She has a son.

Gatomon is Kari's Digimon partner. She is a bipedal cat-like Digimon who wears a special ring on her tail for extra strength. Unlike the other Digimon, she is already a Champion-level when she first appears. Gatomon is more mature because she had a difficult past, growing up alone after her Digi-Egg was lost. She was forced to work for Myotismon until she met Kari and realized they were partners. Gatomon can change into angelic forms that use light-based attacks.

Adventure 02 Protagonists

Davis Motomiya and Veemon

Davis is the leader of the new DigiDestined. He wears Tai's goggles, which Tai gave him. He has a crush on Kari and sometimes gets jealous of her friendship with T.K. Davis can be impulsive, but he deeply cares about his friends and is very dedicated to protecting them. He has the Digi-Egg of Courage (勇気のデジメンタル, Yūki no Dejimentaru) and the Digi-Egg of Friendship (友情のデジメンタル, Yūjō no Dejimentaru).

As an adult, Davis opens a noodle cart business that becomes very successful. He has a son who inherits Tai's goggles, making him a leader too.

Veemon is a blue dragon-like Digimon and Davis's partner. Veemon can use the Digi-Eggs of Courage, Friendship, and Miracles to armor Digivolve. He also learns to Digivolve naturally into dragon-type forms.

Yolei Inoue and Hawkmon

Yolei is the president of the Computer Club at Odaiba Elementary School. She is very good with computers and technology, which makes her helpful to the team. She can be impulsive and very hopeful. She has the Digi-Egg of Love (愛情のデジメンタル, Aijō no Dejimentaru) and the Digi-Egg of Sincerity (純真のデジメンタル, Junshin no Dejimentaru).

In the future, Yolei becomes a housewife and marries Ken. They have three children.

Hawkmon is a hawk-like Digimon and Yolei's partner. He is more calm and practical than Yolei, helping her stay grounded. Hawkmon can use the Digi-Eggs of Love and Sincerity to armor Digivolve. He also learns to Digivolve naturally into hawk-type forms.

Cody Hida and Armadillomon

Cody is the youngest member of the new DigiDestined. He lives with his grandfather, who teaches him kendo and acts as a father figure. Cody has the Digi-Egg of Knowledge (知識のデジメンタル, Chishiki no Dejimentaru) and the Digi-Egg of Reliability (誠実のデjimentaru, Seijitsu no Dejimentaru).

In the future, Cody becomes a lawyer. He has a daughter.

Armadillomon is an armadillo-like Digimon and Cody's partner. He has a relaxed personality and speaks with a special accent. His easygoing nature is very different from Cody's serious personality. Armadillomon can use the Digi-Eggs of Knowledge and Reliability to armor Digivolve. He also learns to Digivolve naturally into Ankylomon.

Ken Ichijoji and Wormmon

Ken is a very smart student who entered the Digital World as a child. He was affected by a "Dark Spore" which made him believe the Digital World was just a game. This led him to become the Digimon Emperor (デジモンカイザー, Dejimon Kaizā), a villain who tried to take over the Digital World. After being defeated, Ken returned to normal and later joined the DigiDestined.

In the future, Ken becomes a detective and marries Yolei. They have three children.

Wormmon is a caterpillar Digimon and Ken's partner. He can crawl and make silk. Even when Ken was the Digimon Emperor, Wormmon stayed by his side, hoping he would become good again. Wormmon even sacrificed himself to help Ken. He was later reborn and reunited with a reformed Ken.

Adventure tri. Protagonists

Meiko is a DigiDestined student who transfers to Tsukishima High School. She is shy and kind. Her presence helps keep her Digimon partner, Meicoomon, from acting wildly.

Meicoomon is Meiko's Champion-level Digimon partner. She holds a piece of data from a powerful villain named Apocalymon. This data causes an infection in the Digital World. When Meicoomon is separated from Meiko or sees her hurt, she can become wild and dangerous.

Minor Protagonists

Gennai is a human-like data being who guides the DigiDestined. He helped protect the Digi-Eggs and later guided the children to find their lost crests. In Digimon Adventure 02, he helps the new DigiDestined.

Homeostasis is a digital life form that helps run the Digital World. It sometimes takes over Kari's body to show her important things. Homeostasis wants to protect the Digital World at all costs.

Willis is an American DigiDestined with two Digimon partners: Terriermon and Kokomon. When Kokomon gets infected by a virus, he turns into Wendigomon. Davis and his friends help Willis save Kokomon.

Michael is a DigiDestined from New York and Mimi's friend. He became a DigiDestined after seeing a Digimon in his city. His partner is Betamon.

Daigo is Tai's substitute teacher and a government agent. He is kind and friendly. Daigo was actually a leader of an older group of DigiDestined before Tai's group.

Eosmon is an artificial Digimon created by Menoa Bellucci. It is the main villain in Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. Eosmon tries to steal the consciousness of DigiDestined around the world.

Antagonists

Adventure Antagonists

Devimon is a Champion-level devil Digimon. He can control other Digimon using his "Touch of Evil" attack and by putting "Black Gears" into them. He tried to kill the DigiDestined and split File Island apart. Devimon was defeated by Angemon.

Etemon is an Ultimate-level puppet monkey Digimon. He is very proud and often mean to his followers. He ruled over a part of the Server Continent using a "Dark Network" that stopped Digimon from Digivolving. Etemon was defeated by MetalGreymon. He later returned as MetalEtemon but was defeated again.

Myotismon is a powerful, evil vampire-like Digimon. He is a heartless monster who tried to find and kill the eighth DigiDestined child in the human world. Myotismon was defeated by Angewomon, but his spirit survived and later returned as VenomMyotismon and then MaloMyotismon. He was finally destroyed by Imperialdramon.

DemiDevimon is a Rookie-level blue bat Digimon and Myotismon's servant. He tried to stop the DigiDestined from getting their Crests. He was later eaten by VenomMyotismon.

Phantomon is an Ultimate-level Digimon and one of Myotismon's main helpers. He guarded the convention center and fought the DigiDestined many times. He was destroyed by Angemon.

Apocalymon is a Mega-level Digimon and the final villain of the first season. He was born from the data of Digimon who couldn't Digivolve and were filled with sadness and anger. He hated the Digital World and tried to destroy everything. The DigiDestined defeated him by using the power of their Crests from their hearts.

Dark Masters

The Dark Masters are a group of four powerful Mega-level Digimon. They took over the Digital World and changed it into Spiral Mountain, which was divided into four areas. Each time a Dark Master was defeated, their area returned to normal.

MetalSeadramon rules over the Net Ocean. He is a giant cyborg sea dragon covered in strong armor. He is stubborn and arrogant. MetalSeadramon was defeated by WarGreymon.

Puppetmon is a Puppet-type Digimon who acts childish but has a bad temper. He treats his followers like toys. He lives in a toy-like mansion. Puppetmon was defeated by MetalGarurumon.

Machinedramon is a dinosaur-like machine Digimon with no emotions. He uses military strategies in fights. He ruled over a city area of Spiral Mountain. Machinedramon was defeated by WarGreymon.

Piedmon is the leader of the Dark Masters. He is a magic-using Digimon dressed like a clown. He loves fighting and has a cruel sense of humor. Piedmon was sealed away by MagnaAngemon's Gate of Destiny after being defeated by WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.

Adventure 02 Antagonists

Kimeramon is a powerful Digimon created by the Digimon Emperor. He was made from parts of many different Digimon. Kimeramon was very strong but uncontrollable. He was destroyed by Magnamon with Wormmon's help.

Arukenimon is a spider-like Digimon who is smart and tricky. She could turn Control Spires into enemy Digimon using her hair. She was later killed by MaloMyotismon.

Mummymon is a mummy Digimon created by Oikawa. He worked with Arukenimon. He was killed by MaloMyotismon when he tried to get revenge for Arukenimon.

BlackWarGreymon is a powerful black copy of WarGreymon, made from many Control Spires. He became self-aware and tried to find meaning in fighting. He sacrificed himself to seal a gate to the Digital World.

Oikawa was a human who knew about Digimon. He made a deal with Myotismon, which led to him being possessed. Under Myotismon's influence, Oikawa created Arukenimon and Mummymon. He was mortally wounded by Myotismon and later used his power to help restore the Digital World.

Daemon is a powerful demon lord Digimon. He can travel between worlds. He tried to get the Dark Spore from Ken but was trapped in the Dark Ocean.

Adventure tri. Antagonists

Alphamon is a black-armored knight Digimon who works for King Drasil. He tried to capture Meicoomon. He fought against Omnimon and Jesmon.

Maki is Daigo's ex-girlfriend and a government agent. She was one of the first DigiDestined. She became upset when her partner Digimon, Tapirmon, sacrificed himself. This led her to work with Dark Gennai to try and bring Tapirmon back by rebooting the Digital World.

Dark Gennai is an evil clone of Gennai. He believes humans will enslave Digimon. He worked with King Drasil to use Meicoomon to destroy humanity. After his plan failed, he took a piece of Apocalymon's data and left to find new allies.

King Drasil is a computer system that runs the Digital World. He worked with Dark Gennai to use Meicoomon to destroy humanity. His plan failed, and Homeostasis shut him down.

Film Antagonists

Parrotmon is a large bird Digimon who appeared in Highton View Terrace in 1996. His appearance led to the DigiDestined being chosen.

Diaboromon is a computer virus Digimon. He caused chaos on the internet and launched nuclear missiles. Omnimon defeated him. In a later film, he returned and created Armageddomon, who was defeated by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.

Wendigomon is a beast Digimon who was Willis's other partner, Kokomon, infected by a virus. He kidnapped DigiDestined to his pocket dimension. He was defeated by Magnamon and Rapidmon.

Menoa Bellucci is the main villain in Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. She is a scientist who created Eosmon to stop DigiDestined from suffering the same fate as her and her partner Morphomon.

Other Characters

Digital World

Meramon is a fire spirit Digimon who lives in Mount Miharashi. He was controlled by a Black Gear but was freed. He later helped Mimi's army fight the Dark Masters.

Andromon is a cyborg-type Digimon. He was controlled by a Black Gear but was freed by Kabuterimon. He later helped the DigiDestined fight the Dark Masters.

Leomon is a humanoid lion Digimon and Ogremon's rival. He was brainwashed by Devimon but was freed by Tai and Matt. He later helped defeat Devimon and MetalEtemon.

Ogremon is an ogre Digimon and Leomon's rival. He is strong and aggressive but also shows honor. He was controlled by Devimon but was freed. He later helped Joe and Mimi fight MetalEtemon.

Centarumon is a one-eyed centaur Digimon who knows a lot about Digivices. He helped Izzy and Mimi after they freed him from a Black Gear.

Elecmon is a rabbit-like Digimon and the caretaker of Primary Village, where all Digimon are born.

Whamon is a whale Digimon. He was controlled by a Black Gear but was freed by Tai. He helped the DigiDestined find their Tags and later saved them from MetalSeadramon, sacrificing himself.

Piximon is a famous trainer in the Digital World. He trained the DigiDestined to work together. He sacrificed himself to save the DigiDestined from the Dark Masters.

Wizardmon is a Digimon and Gatomon's friend. He helped Gatomon realize Kari was her partner. He was killed by Myotismon while protecting Kari and Gatomon.

Azulongmon is one of the four Digimon Sovereigns, who protect the Digital World. He was sealed away by the Dark Masters but was freed by the DigiDestined. He helped them defeat BlackWarGreymon.

Digitamamon is an Ultimate-level Digimon who owns a diner. He tried to make Joe and Gomamon work for him. He was defeated by WereGarurumon. He later returned and was freed from a Dark Spiral by Shurimon.

Tapirmon is a tapir Digimon. One Tapirmon worked at a Chinese restaurant. Another Tapirmon was Maki's partner and sacrificed himself to help his friends Digivolve into the Sovereigns.

Numemon are slug-like mutant Digimon who live in the sewers. They helped Mimi against Monzaemon. A group of Numemon were enslaved by WaruMonzaemon but rebelled and were destroyed by Machinedramon.

Gekomon and Otamamon are amphibian Digimon who serve ShogunGekomon. ShogunGekomon went on a rampage until MetalGreymon defeated him. They later helped the DigiDestined fight Piedmon.

Sukamon and Chuumon are a pair of harmless but annoying Digimon. They had a crush on Mimi. Chuumon later sacrificed himself to save Mimi from Piedmon. They were reborn and reappeared in Digimon Adventure 02.

Hackmon is a Rookie-level Digimon who serves as Homeostasis's messenger. He can Digivolve into the knight Digimon Jesmon. He helps the DigiDestined.

Human World

Susumu and Yuko are Tai and Kari's parents.

Hiroaki is Matt and T.K.'s father. He is a reporter.

Nancy is Matt and T.K.'s mother. She is also a reporter.

Haruhiko is Sora's father and a professor who researches the Digital World.

Toshiko is Sora's mother. She initially wanted Sora to quit soccer but truly loves her daughter.

Masami and Kae are Izzy's adoptive parents. They adopted Izzy after losing their own son.

Jim is Joe's older brother.

June is Davis's older sister. She used to have a crush on Matt.

Chikara is Cody's paternal grandfather and kendo master. He acts as a father figure to Cody.

Sam was Ken's older brother who died in a car accident. His death deeply affected Ken.

Professor Mochizuki and Meiko's Mother are Meiko's parents. Her father is a professor who had a failed experiment with Meicoomon.
